Fire Down Below
Set in the Caribbean, U.S. expatriates Tony and Felix cruise around the ocean and eke out a meager subsistence using their small trawling boat to transport cargo. When they take on the job of smuggling illegal-immigrant beauty Irena to another island, the two friends find their friendship torn apart by their mutual romantic feelings toward her. Though jealousy has split them apart, fate intervenes to bring the two back together.
Shopworn
Lovely waitress Kitty Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) is all set to marry the rich and debonair David Livingston (Regis Toomey). But David's snobbish mother, Helen (Clara Blandick), doesn't want her son consorting with Kitty's kind, so she pulls some strings with her powerful friends and has the young woman sent to jail. When Kitty gets out, she takes a singing gig in a nightclub and skyrockets to fame. David tracks Kitty down and tries to rekindle things, while Helen works on a new scheme to deter him.
The Trouble With Angels
Mary (Hayley Mills) and her friend, Rachel (June Harding), are new students at St. Francis Academy, a boarding school run by the iron fist of Mother Superior (Rosalind Russell). The immature teens grow bored and begin playing pranks on both the unsuspecting nuns and their unpleasant classmates, becoming a constant thorn in Mother Superior's side. However, as the years pass, Mary and Rachel slowly mature and begin to see the nuns in a different light.
Her Husband's Affairs
Advertising executive William Weldon (Franchot Tone) narrowly averts career implosion when his clever wife, Margaret (Lucille Ball), helps him save an important advertising account. But tensions run high in the Weldon household after William's fast-talking employer, J.B. Cruikshank (Edward Everett Horton), invites Margaret to work for him too. The cunning couple must compete with each other to write a campaign for Emil Glinka (Mikhail Rasumny) -- a mad scientist with an alarming new product.
You Can't Run Away From It
Furious over the elopement of his daughter, Ellie (June Allyson), with a fortune hunter, millionaire A.A. Andrews (Charles Bickford) has her kidnapped and sequestered on his yacht. Ellie defies her father by escaping and taking a bus to meet her husband, only to lose all her money to a thief. After Ellie accidentally allows the bus to leave without her, she is befriended by fellow passenger Peter Warne (Jack Lemmon), an unemployed reporter who knows her identity and is primed for a scoop.
The Last Hurrah
Based on the novel by Edwin O'Connor, this political drama focuses on Frank Skeffington (Spencer Tracy), an aging mayor who is embarking on his final campaign for reelection. Aided by his nephew, Adam Caulfield (Jeffrey Hunter), and savvy strategist John Gorman (Pat O'Brien), Skeffington faces considerable challenges as the political landscape that he knows slowly crumbles away, but, undaunted, he remains determined to stay in the game a bit longer.
First Comes Courage
Beautiful Norwegian woman Nicole Larsen (Merle Oberon) is dedicated to the local resistance movement, and seduces Nazi officer Paul Dichter (Carl Esmond) in order to gain information that will help to defeat the Germans. Complicating matters for Nicole are both the difficulty of her loathsome undercover work and the appearance of an old flame, handsome English soldier Allan Lowell (Brian Aherne), who would like nothing more than to reunite with her.
Love Has Many Faces
Wealthy Kit Jordon (Lana Turner) and her dissolute husband, Pete (Cliff Robertson), are in Acapulco, Mexico, when a corpse washes onto the beach. The deceased was a lover of Kit's and a friend of Pete's, so the police question the Jordans. Then the dead man's girlfriend (Stefanie Powers) arrives, and she and Pete have an affair. Luckily, Kit has her choice of men to distract her. There is gigolo Hank (Hugh O'Brian), bullfighter Julian (Carlos Montalban) and, when in a pinch, even her husband.
