After falling in love with wealthy socialite Helen Curtis (Lizabeth Scott), Tom turns down a position as the local doctor and takes a lucrative job at an elite Pittsburgh clinic. The Cockleshell Heroes

Maj. Stringer (Jose Ferrer) needs to assemble a crack squad of British Royal Marines for a highly unusual mission. Though Capt. Thompson (Trevor Howard) is extremely skeptical, he dutifully helps his new superior recruit and train the needed men. Their audacious plan involves transporting a small group of soldiers by submarine to the coast of occupied France, where they will kayak along an estuary into a Nazi shipyard and commit sabotage. Chances for success are very small.

The Last Hurrah

Based on the novel by Edwin O'Connor, this political drama focuses on Frank Skeffington (Spencer Tracy), an aging mayor who is embarking on his final campaign for reelection. Aided by his nephew, Adam Caulfield (Jeffrey Hunter), and savvy strategist John Gorman (Pat O'Brien), Skeffington faces considerable challenges as the political landscape that he knows slowly crumbles away, but, undaunted, he remains determined to stay in the game a bit longer.

The Chase

When "Bubber" Reeves (Robert Redford) escapes from prison, it upsets the folks in the nearby town of Tarl, Texas. Sheriff Calder (Marlon Brando) wants to capture Reeves alive, which puts him in opposition to many of the townspeople who have resorted to mob justice. Businessman Val Rogers (E.G. Marshall) wants Calder to apprehend Reeves quickly, through any means, since he fears the criminal will come after Val's son, Jake, who is sleeping with Reeves' wife (Jane Fonda).

Dead Reckoning

War heroes Rip Murdock (Humphrey Bogart) and Johnny Drake (William Prince) are sent to Washington, D.C., by train, but are not told why. During the trip, they learn they're about to receive top honors for their service. Johnny, seemingly terrified by the publicity that awaits him, jumps off the train and later turns up dead. Suspecting foul play, Rip begins digging into his pal's past. He encounters cover-ups, threats to his own life and deadly femme fatale Coral Chandler (Lizabeth Scott).

All Ashore

Sailors Joe (Dick Haymes) and Skip (Ray McDonald) habitually take advantage of their shipmate, Moby (Mickey Rooney), who's robbed after they take him to a shady bar. When they have no money to go to Catalina Island, Calif., Joe arranges their travel by volunteering the clueless Moby to work on the ship. Skip later meets a glamorous dancer (Peggy Ryan), while Joe woos a nightclub owner (Jody Lawrance). Moby decides to leave, but finds himself coming to the rescue of a beautiful heiress.

Queen Bee

Meanwhile, when Eva discovers her sister-in-law (Betsy Palmer) is to wed her former lover (John Ireland), she really becomes nasty. Witnessing Eva's cruel exploits is Avery's cousin, Jennifer Stewart (Lucy Marlow), who can only stand by, mortified.
