When her husband disappears, Carlyle Hardwicke finds it impossible to rent a room in her London apartment, since everyone assumes she's a murderer. Recently arrived American diplomat William Gridley, however, has no idea about her reputation. Sparks fly between the pair, and Gridley rents the room. When his boss, Franklyn Ambruster, learns what Gridley has blundered into, he reproves him until he meets the lovely Carlyle. The two men try to clear her name.

Princess Salome (Rita Hayworth) is the daughter of King Herod (Charles Laughton) of Galilee. Cast out after her affair with Caesar's nephew, Salome finds herself back in the kingdom of her father when she falls in love with Claudius (Stewart Granger), the commander of her father's army. Meanwhile, Salome's evil mother, Queen Herodias, is continually being condemned by John the Baptist, and plotting to use Salome as a tool to get the prophet executed.

Harriet Craig enjoys the married life but constantly tries to control those around her. She does not trust her husband, Walter, without checking up on him. When he is offered a promotion that will require traveling, Harriet tells his boss that Walter has a gambling problem. She also sabotages a budding relationship between her cousin Clare and Wes Miller, Walter's assistant. However, Walter discovers Harriet's interference, which leads to a confrontation.

Christopher Pride (Jerry Lewis) has been offered an important commission in Paris but can't convince his girlfriend, Dr. Elizabeth Acord (Janet Leigh), to take some time off from her psychiatric practice. Elizabeth is worried about three of her female patients, all of whom are extremely hostile toward men and very needy. Christopher, anxious to leave for France, decides to impersonate the ideal man for each of Elizabeth's patients, in hopes of lessening their dependency on her.

711 Ocean Drive

Mal Granger (Edmond O'Brien) is a telephone repairman with a passion for horse betting. He puts his electronics expertise to work assisting gangster Vince Walters (Barry Kelly) in expanding his illegal racing wire, and, when Walters is murdered, Granger takes over the operation. However, Granger's growing success is soon threatened by both Larry Mason (Donald Porter), an East Coast mobster who wants in on the action, and Lieutenant Pete Wright (Howard St. John), who's after Granger for murder.

The Taming of the Shrew

In this film adaptation of the classic Shakespeare play, Grumio and Hortensio both long to wed the same beautiful young woman. Unfortunately, her wealthy father will not let his daughter marry unless her hot-tempered sister, Katherina, also has a suitor. Luckily, the slovenly Petruchio is looking for an affluent woman to marry, so Grumio and Hortensio pay him to try to woo the extremely volatile Katherina.

Reformed thief Blackie (Chester Morris) does a magic show in a women's prison, during which an inmate escapes.

In their ensuing freedom, they are excited to dive back into the world of dating. Nina has a date with a suave actor (Donald Curtis), and Robert meets a blonde bombshell (Kim Novak). However, when their dalliances get complicated, they quickly realize that single life might not be what they bargained for.
