All Ashore

Sailors Joe (Dick Haymes) and Skip (Ray McDonald) habitually take advantage of their shipmate, Moby (Mickey Rooney), who's robbed after they take him to a shady bar. When they have no money to go to Catalina Island, Calif., Joe arranges their travel by volunteering the clueless Moby to work on the ship. Skip later meets a glamorous dancer (Peggy Ryan), while Joe woos a nightclub owner (Jody Lawrance). Moby decides to leave, but finds himself coming to the rescue of a beautiful heiress.

Tell It to the Judge

Marsha Meredith (Rosalind Russell) has just been offered a position as a federal judge. Much to her dismay, her nomination is challenged on the grounds that her divorce renders her unsuitable for the courtroom. Desperate to win the position, Marsha arranges a fake marriage to Alexander (Gig Young), even though she still has feelings for Peter (Robert Cummings), her ex-husband. Marsha and Alexander -- and Marsha and Peter -- soon find themselves in a series of compromising situations.

Bad for Each Other

Dr. Tom Owen (Charlton Heston) is an Army doctor on leave to visit his mother, who still lives in the poor Pennsylvania mining town where he grew up. After falling in love with wealthy socialite Helen Curtis (Lizabeth Scott), Tom turns down a position as the local doctor and takes a lucrative job at an elite Pittsburgh clinic. Though he's happy with his newfound success and his recent engagement to Helen, a cave-in at the town mine forces Tom to decide where his heart really lies.

Three for the Show

Julie (Betty Grable), a beloved singer, is married to songwriter Marty Stewart (Jack Lemmon), who disappears while serving in the Korean War. Eventually, Julie assumes that her husband has died and marries Marty's closest pal, Vernon Lowndes (Gower Champion). Vernon and Julie have a happy marriage until Marty suddenly arrives back home, alive and well. The two men are at one another's throats, and Julie is mortified -- that is, until she realizes there may be an advantage to having two husbands.

The Last Hurrah

Based on the novel by Edwin O'Connor, this political drama focuses on Frank Skeffington (Spencer Tracy), an aging mayor who is embarking on his final campaign for reelection. Aided by his nephew, Adam Caulfield (Jeffrey Hunter), and savvy strategist John Gorman (Pat O'Brien), Skeffington faces considerable challenges as the political landscape that he knows slowly crumbles away, but, undaunted, he remains determined to stay in the game a bit longer.

To Sir, With Love

American Mark Thackeray (Sidney Poitier) recently received his degree in engineering, but cannot find work. To make ends meet, he takes a job as a teacher in a rough London East End school populated mostly with troublemakers who were rejected from other schools for their behavior. While the students at first see Thackeray as just another teacher open for ridicule and bullying, his calm demeanor and desire to see them succeed gradually earn him their respect.

We Were Strangers

When her brother is murdered, China Valdez (Jennifer Jones) swears revenge on the corrupt Cuban government he had been protesting. She joins the resistance led by Tony (John Garfield), an American with a plan that promises devastating results to their enemies. First they'll kill a government official, then plant a bomb at the funeral, which will wipe out the dead man's associates when it explodes. All they need to do is to dig an underground tunnel from China's house to the cemetery next door.

Good Neighbor Sam

Sam Bissell (Jack Lemmon) is an advertising executive who loves his wife, Min (Dorothy Provine), and his family as much as he loves peace and quiet. When Janet Lagerlof (Romy Schneider), an old acquaintance, inherits a sizable fortune, Bissell is talked into pretending to be her husband in order to fulfill a legal requirement. Things get even more complicated when Ms. Langerlof is introduced to Bissell's employer, Simon Nurdlinger (Edward G. Robinson), as Mrs. Bissell.
