The conniving Ed Barker (Dick Curtis) murders a rancher and tries to steal the ranch from his widow, Jean Andrews (Ann Doran). However, their old friend Cliff Houston (Charles Starrett) appears on the scene to try and save the day. He makes a deal with Barker and his crew to drive the Andrews herd to market and split the money, but each man really plans to con the other as soon as the time is right. Along for the ride is singing cowboy Bob Stevens (Bob Nolan).

Dr. Allen Seward (Robert Francis) is the new doctor at a remote Army outpost. His liberal attitudes towards Native Americans become a source of tension between him and his superiors, especially Capt.
