A Lawless Street
The honorable Calem Ware (Randolph Scott), marshal of the Wild West boomtown of Medicine Bend, attempts to defuse the simmering tensions in his rapidly growing and increasingly violent town, as a greedy businessman (Warner Anderson) hires a sinister black-gloved gunman (Michael Pate) to take care of his problems with the marshal for good. Searching for work, cowboy Jubal Troop (Glenn Ford) arrives in a small town, where he badly injures his hand. Fortunately, a local rancher, Shep Horgan (Ernest Borgnine), is willing to employ Troop despite the injury. Horgan and Troop work together amicably, but Horgan's two-timing wife (Valerie French) threatens to create discord when she becomes interested in Troop, although he really loves another woman. A jealous cowhand (Rod Steiger) complicates matters by spreading lies.

The Law vs. Billy the Kid
After riding into New Mexico, William Bonney (Scott Brady) and Pat Garrett (James Griffith) are hired by rancher John Tunstall (Paul Cavanagh). Bonney's hard work wins Tunstall over, but his romance with the old man's niece makes foreman Bob Ollinger (Alan Hale Jr.) jealous. Learning of Bonney's criminal past, Ollinger leads a posse against him that kills Tunstall instead. Bonney vows to avenge his boss' death, and his ensuing killing spree earns him the nickname "Billy the Kid."
Hangman's Knot
Major Matt Stewart (Randolph Scott) leads a troop of Confederate soldiers on a raid, targeting a wagon that is transporting Union gold. All the Union soldiers are killed except for one, who informs Stewart that the war had already ended a month ago. Stewart leads the troop into hiding, knowing they could face murder charges. After capturing a coach driven by nurse Molly Hull (Donna Reed), the soldiers try to evade a group of bandits chasing them to steal the gold.
The Bandit of Zhobe
After Maj. Crowley (Norman Wooland) arrests the warrior Kasim Khan (Victor Mature) under suspicion of attacking British troops, Khan escapes. While he is away, a rival warlord, Azhad Khan, dresses his troops as British soldiers and attacks Kasim's village, killing his family. Thinking that the British are behind the attack, Kasim wages war against them. Only Crowley's daughter, Zena (Anne Aubrey), with help from her guard, Stokes (Anthony Newley), sees that Kasim is not the enemy.
