Trail of the Rustlers
When a member of the villainous Mahoney family is slain while escaping the jail cell he'd been put in by Steve Armitage (Charles Starrett), aka the Durango Kid, the dead man's relatives vow to take down the Kid by any means necessary. Chick Mahoney (Don Harvey) poses as the Kid and tries to ruin the cowboy's reputation by stealing from nearby ranchers, but with the help of sidekick Smiley Burnette (Smiley Burnette), the Kid sets out to retrieve the stolen goods and repair his good name.

Noble cowboy the Durango Kid (Charles Starrett) gets snared in a vicious feud between two warring stagecoach operations. One of the two has been recently willed to spitfire Mary Halliday (Carole Mathews), whose father the Kid suspects was murdered by a business rival. With the help of his trusted friends Tex Harding (Tex Harding) and Cannonball (Dub Taylor), the Kid hopes to uncover the truth while hiding the investigation from the strident Miss Halliday.

Billy the Kid (Anthony Dexter) retires from the outlaw life, fakes his own death and adopts the name William Bonney. Soon, William runs into Jack Slade (Sonny Tufts), a gun-toting stranger who is itching for a gunfight. Jack falls in with a group of thugs terrorizing William's town. The Rev. Jericho Jones (Buddy Rogers) exhorts William to defend the townspeople, and, when William's maid, Tonya (Marie Windsor), is beaten by the thugs, he grabs his pistol.
