En route to Mexico from the United States, Billy the Kid (Emilio Estevez) and his associates are pursued by federal agents hell-bent on bringing them to justice. But when Billy, Doc (Kiefer Sutherland) and Chavez (Lou Diamond Phillips) prove too difficult to track down, the frustrated authorities enlist an old friend of theirs, reformed outlaw Pat Garrett (William Petersen), to take down the elusive gunslinger. But Billy has a head start, and his crew of outlaws is growing by the minute.

Buddy

Thanks to the indulgence of her patient husband, Dr. Bill Lintz (Robbie Coltrane), wealthy eccentric Trudy (Rene Russo) has already accumulated a large collection of wild animals by 1931 when she is introduced to Buddy, a sickly young gorilla. Trudy raises Buddy as her own child, dressing him in human clothes, and the ape responds with absolute obedience. But as Buddy grows older and larger, Trudy is unable to restrain him from turning increasingly violent.

Sister Mary Explains It All

Near Christmas, four former students of Sister Mary Ignatius (Diane Keaton) drop in at a holiday event at the school where the Roman Catholic nun has taught for many years. Now adults, the students (Brian Benben, Wallace Langham, Laura San Giacomo, Jennifer Tilly) have decided to tell Sister Mary that her rigid classroom lessons and demeanor left them emotionally wounded. Sister Mary tries to maintain her composure, but as the ex-students keep at it, the evening takes a stunning turn.

Gloria

After serving three years in prison covering for her gangster boyfriend, Kevin (Jeremy Northam), Gloria (Sharon Stone) returns to New York City for the money she was promised. Inside Kevin's base of operations, she finds 7-year-old Nicky (Jean-Luke Figueroa), whose family has been killed. Nicky is hanging onto a computer disk that incriminates the gang. Kevin refuses to pay Gloria, so she steals Nicky and the evidence. On the run in the city, the cynical ex-convict and the young boy grow close.

Mortal Thoughts

A loathsome man ends up dead, but it's not clear who's to blame. If ever a person got what he deserved, it's James Urbanski (Bruce Willis), an abusive drunk who steals from his wife, Joyce (Glenne Headly), and promises her close friend Cynthia Kellogg (Demi Moore) that she'll be the next target of his rage. At a group outing, James bleeds to death after someone cuts his throat. But because he's such a terrible human being, police aren't sure which of his acquaintances decided to kill him.

The Next Karate Kid

Karate master Mr. Miyagi goes to Boston to attend a military reunion. There, he visits with Louisa, the widow of his former commander, and meets her granddaughter, Julie. Julie's parents were recently killed in a car accident, and she is still reeling from the loss. When Julie surprises Miyagi with her knowledge of karate, he takes her to a Buddhist monastery for training and to help her come to terms with her angst.
