Dominic DiPuccio chose to adopt her two children when Yazeed Essa abandoned them and fled to Lebanon after the police questioned him about Rosemarie's death. DiPuccio could be considered the State's key witness because he was the one who pointed police to the poisoned calcium pills. Under cross-examination, Yazeed's lawyer tried to discredit him in the eyes of the jury.

On the stand was Don Whitworth, a cyanide expert for DuPont chemical company. He confirmed that cyanide can be found everywhere in nature including in the human body. According to a toxicology report, Rosemarie had a deadly amount of potassium cyanide, which ended her life.

The cyanide lecture was not over yet for the jury. On the stand, cyanide expert Don Whitworth broke down details about cyanide in its natural and chemical forms. The State claimed that whoever laced Rosemarie ESSA's calcium supplements with deadly amounts of potassium cyanide did it with a bit of sophistication. They claimed it was enough to carry out a murder plot that could've gone undetected by investigators.

The guy who protected Yazeed Essa while he was a wanted man testified. Jamal Khalife told jurors that after Yazeed fled the country following the death of his wife, Rosemarie, he provided a place for him to stay and fake aliases while he settled in Lebanon. While Yazeed was abroad for 18-months allegedly fleeing U.S. authorities Yazeed confessed to Khalife that he poisoned his wife, Rosemarie, to death.

Prosecutors went deep into how the defendant, Yazeed Essa, fled the country and tried to hide in Lebanon after his wife, Rosemarie, died. On the stand was man who provided him a furnished apartment, fake ID's, and access to money. Jamal Khalife claimed that the defendant was getting arrogant while he was a fugitive in Lebanon, which Khalife claimed led him to getting captured. He was eventually extradited back to the U.S. to stand trial for the poisoning death of his wife, Rosemarie.

The Defense accused Jamal Khalife on the stand of making up his story about the defendant confessing to killing his wife, Rosemarie Essa. The reason? So he could get immunity for a 28-count federal indictment he was facing. During cross-examination, Yazeed's defense tried to discredit Khalife who helped him when he was a fugitive after the death of his wife. By bringing up the crimes Khalife was accused of, Yazeed's defense raised red flags to the jury about his credibility.
