The Defense then rested their case in his murder trial. The defendant chose not to take the witness stand in an attempt to exonerate him for the aggravated murder charge in Rosemarie, his wife's poisoning death. Closing arguments was underway. First up was the State. The prosecutor reminded the jury that 46 witnesses took the stand in the six-weeks of trial testimony. She went on to tell jurors that Dr. Yazeed Essa failed to do his duty as a doctor in saving a life when Rosemarie, was killed. Instead, he took a life and destroyed a life.
