Next, the jury heard about the first formal interview the state police did with the defendant just hours after O'Keefe died. According to the sergeant on the stand, investigators drove to Karen Read's family home to ask her specific questions about the hours leading up to John's death.

Lead Detective Gary McKee was on the stand outlining how it took four weeks for her death to be classified as a homicide. McKee confirmed that in the days Yazeed was out of the country his two main mistresses were initially considered suspects in Rosemarie's death. This detective later answered questions under a probing cross-examination.

So, where did Yazeed Essa get the solid cyanide that police alleged he used to kill his wife? Investigators looked for a link between the defendant and the poison, but they found nothing.
