From Here to Eternity
At an Army barracks in Hawaii in the days preceding the attack on Pearl Harbor, lone-wolf soldier and boxing champion Prew Prewitt (Montgomery Clift) refuses to box, preferring to play the bugle instead. Hard-hearted Capt. Holmes (Philip Ober) subjects Prew to a grueling series of punishments while, unknown to Holmes, the gruff but fair Sgt. Warden (Burt Lancaster) engages in a clandestine affair with the captain's mistreated wife (Deborah Kerr).
The Country Girl
This adaptation of Clifford Odets' stage drama features Bing Crosby as the hard-drinking Frank Elgin, a once-popular Broadway star whose glory days have passed. When director Bernie Dodd (William Holden) gives Elgin a role in his new musical, he must also deal with the actor's sour and ever-present wife, Georgie (Grace Kelly), who Dodd believes is the cause of her husband's failure. However, as Dodd spends more time around Georgie, the truth about her husband becomes clear.
Cimarron
In 1889, adventurous lawyer and newspaper editor Yancey Cravat (Richard Dix) convinces his genteel wife, Sabra (Irene Dunne), to join him in the rush to populate Osage, Oklahoma. After they begin to settle into the community, Yancey leaves to go further west. Alone, Sabra inherits his editorial duties and struggles to bring civilization to the rough frontier town. Over a tumultuous 40 years, the couple are repeatedly separated and reunited as Oklahoma makes its long journey to statehood.
Winchester '73
Lin McAdam (James Stewart) pursues notorious outlaw Henry Dutch Brown (Millard Mitchell) into Dodge City, Kansas. There, in an effort to flush out the criminal, McAdam enters a sharp-shooting contest and wins the top prize: the eponymous Winchester rifle. Brown, desiring the rifle for himself, sneaks into McAdam's room and makes off with it. After finding the rifle missing, McAdam chases Brown across the state and toward an epic confrontation.
Cowboy
A successful rancher, Tom Reece (Glenn Ford), forges a business venture with a Mexican landowner (Donald Randolph) but finds himself in a bind after squandering a lot of money at a hotel run by Frank Harris (Jack Lemmon). Frank has strong feelings for the Mexican's daughter (Anna Kashfi), and when he learns that Tom is in a tough spot, he exploits the situation to get closer to his potential paramour. Frank takes to horseback alongside Tom, and both are surprised by the results.
