Above and Beyond
In this moving 1953 drama from director Melvin Frank, Col. Paul Tibbets, commander of the 509th Composite Group during World War II, struggles to come to grips with his peculiar place in human history: He's the first man to ever drop an atomic bomb. While his wife, Lucy, has stayed loyal to him, the aftermath of causing such destruction leaves Paul questioning his humanity and the mission that may have forever diminished it.
Brannigan
Police Detective Jim Brannigan (John Wayne) is sent from Chicago to London to extradite a wanted American criminal, Ben Larkin (John Vernon). However, Larkin is kidnapped before Brannigan can apprehend him, igniting a manhunt throughout the city. Jennifer (Judy Geeson), a British police officer, is appointed to help Brannigan, who is frequently bewildered by English customs. Brannigan's harsh policing techniques also lead to constant clashes with Cmdr. Swann (Richard Attenborough).
The Last Challenge
Hotshot gunfighter Lot McGuire intends to make a name for himself by out-duelling legendary bandit-turned-lawman Marshal Dan Blaine. Before any bullets fly, however, Lot and his intended enemy strike up an unlikely friendship, and Blaine tries to convince the youngster to call off the shootout. Unfortunately, Lot can't be talked out of his quest for glory, and so he guns down a few hostile locals, leaving Blaine no choice but to finally accept the offer for a showdown.
Raw Edge
In 1842 lawless Oregon, a gunfighter seeks vengeance when his innocent brother is lynched and his beautiful Indian wife is claimed by the local tyrant.
Three Hours to Kill
The inhabitants of a small western community turn on Jim Guthrie (Dana Andrews) when he becomes the prime suspect for a murder he didn't commit. Before getting a chance to prove his innocence, Jim is driven from his home and into the wilderness, where he is left for dead. Despite the danger, he comes back years later, discovering that he's still a wanted man. But a kindhearted local named Chris (Dianne Foster) believes his story, and together they begin a desperate search for the true culprit.
Beach Party
Dolores (Annette Funicello) and Frankie (Frankie Avalon), attractive young surfers in Southern California, are just out for a good time. Their relaxed lifestyle fascinates Professor Sutwell (Bob Cummings), an anthropologist who decides to study the social lives of teens. A series of beach-themed films would follow the blueprint set by this one, which hinges on romantic rivalries, rugged motorcyclists, an attempted crime and plenty of handsome people.
Aces High
Maj. Gresham (Malcolm McDowell) is a flying ace who oversees a group of English pilots during World War I. His latest recruit is Lt. Croft (Peter Firth), who happens to have been only a few years behind Gresham at Eton. Croft idolizes Gresham at first, but the image of his hero is tarnished when he learns of Gresham's private habits, especially his predilection for alcohol. It's only after Croft himself has endured the crucible of war that he comes to fully appreciate his commanding officer.
The Eagle Has Landed
During World War II, Nazi officer Max Radl devises a plan to kidnap or kill the British prime minister. Approved by German Cmdr. Heinrich Himmler, the scheme moves forward with Col. Kurt Steiner leading the mission, aided by Liam Devlin, an Irishman with a deep hatred of England. As the plan unfolds, it seems to be going well -- until certain events threaten the group's shot at success.
