A Nevada rancher (John Payne) is taken from his bride (Lizabeth Scott) by a killer (Dan Duryea) posing as a U.S. marshal on the Fourth of July.
The Law and Jake Wade
Bandits Clint Hollister (Richard Widmark) and Jake Wade (Robert Taylor) botch a robbery that ends with Clint imprisoned. Despairing, Jake leaves the loot in an abandoned village and quits crime for good. Now working for the law, Jake helps free his old cohort from jail. Clint doesn't want the treasure to go to waste, however, so he forces Jake and his girlfriend, Peggy (Patricia Owens), to lead him to the stash. But to unearth the money, they'll have to get past dangerous Comanche warriors.
The Violent Men
Former Union soldier John Parrish (Glenn Ford) wants to sell his ranch and start a new life by settling down out east. However, the ruthless tactics of Lew Wilkison (Edward G. Robinson), the scheming businessman interested in his property, make Parrish reconsider the move, especially after one of his ranch hands is murdered. Adding to the increasingly tense conflict is Wilkison's wife, Martha (Barbara Stanwyck), who is cheating on her husband with his brother, Cole (Brian Keith).
In Harm's Way
Naval Captain Torrey (John Wayne) manages to bring his ship through the bombing of Pearl Harbor unscathed, but is later demoted when it is damaged in a subsequent battle due to his negligence. Back on land, he begins a reconciliation with his estranged son (Brandon de Wilde) and a romance with nurse Maggie (Patricia Neal), but duty calls him away when he and his firebrand friend, Cmdr. Paul Eddington (Kirk Douglas), are tasked with salvaging a dangerous and important mission.
Big Jake
The avenging head of the McCandle clan returns to his estranged family and leads the search for his kidnapped grandson. Big Jake sets off, his sons in tow, to deliver the ransom to the kidnappers, but has little intention of handing it over without a fight.
Hondo
An embittered Indian scout attempts to escort a homesteader's wife and her son back to safety after her cowardly husband deserts her during an Apache attack. When she refuses to go, the scout stays on to help for a while and, over time, forms a strong bond with both her and her son.
Calamity Jane
In the lonely Deadwood, Dakota, territory, sharpshooter Calamity Jane (Doris Day) falls for cavalry Lt. Danny Gilmartin (Philip Carey) when she is forced to rescue him from the Indians. Recognizing that the women-starved townsmen long for a "real" woman, Calamity journeys to Chicago to bring back famous singer Adelaid Adams, but mistakenly brings her maid Katie instead. Heartbroken when Danny falls for Katie, Calamity all but ignores her jovial friend Wild Bill Hickok (Howard Keel).
Day of the Evil Gun
Returning home after disappearing three years ago, former gunslinger Lorn Warfield (Glenn Ford) finds that an Apache raiding party has kidnapped his wife and children. Though he has renounced violence, he now takes up his gun and joins forces with his neighbor, Owen Forbes (Arthur Kennedy). Complicating matters, Forbes is engaged to Warfield's wife, who believed her husband was dead. As they pursue the Apaches, the two men are joined by an Indian trader, Jimmy Noble (Dean Jagger).
