Kit Carson
At Fort Bridger in the Wyoming Territory, frontiersman and scout Kit Carson (Jon Hall) receives a request to guide a wagon train over the Oregon Trail to California. Concerned by the dangers of Indian attacks, Carson hesitates, but then agrees despite the wagon train having already arranged for protection from a cavalry unit led by Capt. John Fremont (Dana Andrews). On the journey, Carson and Fremont clash several times over leadership -- and the attentions of Dolores Murphy (Lynn Bari).

Trail Street
Legendary lawman Bat Masterson (Randolph Scott) is called to rural Kansas to defend farmers from ruthless cattlemen. Joining Masterson in his efforts to clean up a lawless town are a couple of locals: Masterson's old chum Billy Burn and landowner Allen Harper (Robert Ryan). But ranch owner Logan Maury proves to be a more than formidable opponent. He'll stop at nothing, including murder, to turn the farmers' fields into grazing grounds for his cattle.

Hannah Brockway has a perfect fiancé in Dr. Sam Martin. Sam, who is respected by Hannah's family, is a noble man who cares for her and can make a good living in their frontier town. Brannigan
Police Detective Jim Brannigan (John Wayne) is sent from Chicago to London to extradite a wanted American criminal, Ben Larkin (John Vernon). However, Larkin is kidnapped before Brannigan can apprehend him, igniting a manhunt throughout the city. Jennifer (Judy Geeson), a British police officer, is appointed to help Brannigan, who is frequently bewildered by English customs. Brannigan's harsh policing techniques also lead to constant clashes with Cmdr. Swann (Richard Attenborough).
Battle of the Bulge
American Lt. Col. Dan Kiley (Henry Fonda), a military intelligence whiz, discovers that the Nazis are planning to attack Allied forces near Belgium. Certain that the exhausted enemy can't muster much force, Gen. Joe Grey (Robert Ryan) isn't convinced by Kiley's findings, and his men pay the price when the German tanks begin their offensive. In the heat of this key World War II battle, Kiley must come up with a plan when it becomes clear that the Nazis are trying to steal fuel from the Allies.
Rain
In the South Pacific, the passengers of a boat must disembark prematurely at the island of Pago Pago due to a cholera scare. Among them are missionaries Alfred Davidson (Walter Huston) and his wife (Beulah Bondi), and a spirited prostitute, Sadie Thompson (Joan Crawford). On the island, Thompson lives it up with the American soldiers stationed in the village, and captures the heart of Sgt. Tim O'Hara (William Gargan). But Thompson's wild ways are too much for Davidson, who tries to convert her.
