Dallas
Soon after the end of the Civil War, Blayde Hollister, a former Confederate officer, is a fugitive from the law. He fakes his own death in order to avoid arrest and to lull his enemies into a false sense of security. It turns out Hollister is gunning for the brothers who murdered his family during the war. Joining up with the newly arrived Marshal Martin Weatherby, Hollister heads for Dallas, where his targets are terrorizing the population with a crime spree.
Gunfighters
In Texas, gunfighter Brazos Kane (Randolph Scott) decides to lay down his guns for good and rides out to visit his best friend -- only to witness his murder. When Brazos takes the body to the nearby ranch of the powerful Banner (Griff Barnett), the rancher accuses him of the murder. Brazos leaves Banner's daughter, Bess (Barbara Britton), a vital piece of evidence in the crime, and then must evade Banner and a crooked sheriff as he reluctantly takes up arms to prove his innocence.

Hoping to update his chapter on modern slang, encyclopedia writer Professor Bertram Potts (Gary Cooper) ventures into a chic nightclub. Inside, he meets the snarky burlesque performer "Sugarpuss" O'Shea (Barbara Stanwyck). Fascinated by her command of popular jargon, Potts invites her to stay with him. But, unknown to Potts, she is the fiancée of a mobster (Dana Andrews) and wanted by the police. In the ensuing mayhem, Potts must stay on his toes or be swallowed up by bigger fish.
Forbidden Planet

Utopia
In London to claim an inheritance, Stan (Stan Laurel) misses out on the money but instead receives his own island. Accompanied, as always, by his pal Ollie (Oliver Hardy), Stan travels to his new property, but gets caught in a storm and washes up on a newly formed atoll. When the boys learn the island is brimming with precious uranium, they form a constitution and declare themselves a sovereign state, while the great nations of the world look to get their own hands on the valuable territory.
