In 1971, several prominent African-Americans convinced the government of Ghana to hold a gala concert to commemorate that nation's 14th anniversary of independence. Some of the big American names participating in the resulting 14-hour event are Santana, Wilson Pickett and Roberta Flack, while African artists are represented by such acts as Kofi Ghanaba and the Kumasi Drummers.
