During the holidays, loving but overprotective Ned (Bryan Cranston) travels to California to visit his daughter Stephanie (Zoey Deutch) at Stanford University. Even though Laird is a multimillionaire, Ned disapproves of his freewheeling attitude and unfiltered language.
