One of the wagons attached to a wagon train has a damaged axle. Because the train has a strict schedule to follow, the broken wagon is left behind. Jason Clay (Lance Fuller) and Tobias Taylor (Chill Wills) repair the axle, and the situation appears to be remedied. But then the wagon crew runs into a bigger problem -- they are in Comanche territory, and the Comanche refuse to let them pass unless they hand over the hundred Kentucky rifles on board.

But Gene quickly realizes Larry is innocent and decides to protect the siblings from the law while he looks for the real killer. When the lone rider dies, Carson takes off with his gold and hooks up with a traveling medicine show. He quickly realizes that the show's fortuneteller (Lona Andre) is the niece of the dead rider, a local miner who struck gold. Carson vows to clear his name when he's charged with the rider's murder.

New Mexico

After the Civil War, cavalryman Capt. Hunt (Lew Ayres) tries to strike peace with Acoma (Ted de Corsia), a Native American chief. However, Judge Wilcox (Lloyd Corrigan) and others provoke Acoma, arresting him and shooting his men, prompting revenge from the chief. In the ensuing battles, one of Acoma's sons is killed, enraging him further. Hunt must save Cherry (Marilyn Maxwell), a dance hall girl caught up in the commotion, and try to find a way to end the bloody conflict with Acoma.
