High Lonesome

High Lonesome

At a sprawling Texas ranch, a mysterious young man nicknamed Cooncat (John Barrymore Jr.) tells rancher Horse Davis (Basil Ruysdael) an improbable story about a murder at a nearby trading post. His descriptions of the men he believes committed the crime, Smiling Man (Jack Elam) and Roper (Dave Kashner), fit those of two members of a rival family who were killed during a land fight years earlier. Another shooting draws Horse's future son-in-law, Pat Farrell (John Archer), into the mystery.

Hit the Saddle

The Three Mesquiteers -- Stony Brooke (Robert Livingston), Tucson Smith (Ray Corrigan) and Lullaby Joslin (Max Terhune) -- suspect the unscrupulous Rance McGowan (J.P. McGowan) of supplementing his income by rustling a breed of wild horses protected by the federal government. When Sheriff Miller (Edward Cassidy) gets trampled to death by an unknown horse, the Mesquiteers seek vengeance for his orphaned son. Meanwhile, Brooke angers Smith by courting saloon girl Rita (Rita Cansino).

Idaho

When the esteemed Judge John Grey (Harry Shannon) finds himself on trial for the robbery of a local bank, singing cowboy Roy Rogers (Roy Rogers) comes to his friend's aid. Rogers suspects a frame-up, and the trail of clues leads directly to the crafty Belle Bonner (Ona Munson), a woman whose disreputable saloon has recently sparked the judge's ire. To clear Grey's name, Rogers must convince the townspeople of his innocence -- and face off against Belle and her gunslinging henchmen.

In Old Cheyenne

Newspaper reporter Steve Blane (Roy Rogers) is sent to Cheyenne, Wyo., to write about frontier outlaw Arapahoe Brown (George "Gabby" Hayes). But as Blane spends time in the cow town, he realizes that the conventional wisdom is all wrong. Arapahoe has been made a scapegoat for crimes perpetrated by power-hungry rancher Sam Drummond (George Rosener). As Blane attempts to report the truth, he finds himself caught in the middle of a dangerous feud between cattlemen and settlers.

Kentucky Rifle

One of the wagons attached to a wagon train has a damaged axle. Because the train has a strict schedule to follow, the broken wagon is left behind. Jason Clay (Lance Fuller) and Tobias Taylor (Chill Wills) repair the axle, and the situation appears to be remedied. But then the wagon crew runs into a bigger problem -- they are in Comanche territory, and the Comanche refuse to let them pass unless they hand over the hundred Kentucky rifles on board.

Law of the Pampas

Hopalong Cassidy (William Boyd) and his sidekick (Russell Hayden) head for South America to deliver cattle.

The Lawless Frontier

The parents of John Tobin (John Wayne) have been murdered, and he wants justice. He sets out to find the killer, the evil gang leader Pandro Zanti (Earl Dwire), who hides from the law with disguises and almost kills old prospector Dusty (George Hayes) and his granddaughter. John rescues them and catches Zanti, only to face criminal charges from lawman Sheriff Williams (Jack Rockwell). Zanti is let go, and John must clear his name and establish who the real criminal is.
