When a group of armed men invade a small town, store owner Jack Wright (Fred MacMurray) takes up a gun and kills the leader of the group. He is hailed as a hero in his community, but Jack's popularity is short-lived when the gunmen return to seek revenge. Abandoned by his community, Jack is left with only the support of his wife, Martha (Dorothy Malone), and his friend Doc Lacy (Walter Brennan). Threatened with violence, Jack must find the courage to face the bandits on his own.

Judge Jim Scott (Fred MacMurray) wants to sentence a killer to die, but the outlaw's family members intend otherwise. All-powerful patriarch Charlie Hayes (Robert Middleton) and his intimidating kinfolk are confident they can use violence to get their doomed relative's sentence commuted into something less severe. In a Valley of Violence
A mysterious drifter (Ethan Hawke) and his dog journey toward Mexico through the barren desert of the Old West. The once-popular mining town is nearly abandoned and controlled by a group of misfits and nitwits, including the seemingly untouchable Gilly (James Ransone), the troublemaking son of the town's difficult marshal.

Sheep farmer Jason Sweet (Glenn Ford) arrives in a small Western cattle town and promptly clashes with local tough guy Jumbo McCall (Mickey Shaughnessy). He also irks Stephen Bedford (Leslie Nielsen), a wealthy cattleman, with his advances toward Bedford's girlfriend, Dell Payton (Shirley MacLaine). With the entire town in an uproar over Sweet's behavior, Bedford arranges for Chocktaw Neal (Pernell Roberts), a seasoned gunslinger, to shoot him down.
