Night Passage
Former railroad worker Grant McLaine (James Stewart) is hired by boss Ben Kimball (Jay C. Flippen) to help transport the railroad's payroll. The train carrying the payroll has been robbed multiple times in the past, and Kimball hopes that McLaine can successfully guard the money from the robbers. But matters are complicated for McLaine when he finds out that one of the robbers is his brother, who is now going by the name of the Utica Kid (Audie Murphy).
The Rare Breed
During the 1880s, Martha Price (Maureen O'Hara), a widowed cattle breeder, travels from England to St. Louis with her daughter, Hilary (Juliet Mills). Martha hopes to crossbreed her bull, Vindicator, with American cattle. Martha sells Vindicator to Alexander Bowen (Brian Keith), a wealthy businessman, who hires Sam Burnett (James Stewart) to transport the bulls to Texas. Skeptical of Burnett's intentions, Martha and Hilary decide to accompany him on the trip.
Winchester '73
Lin McAdam (James Stewart) pursues notorious outlaw Henry Dutch Brown (Millard Mitchell) into Dodge City, Kansas. There, in an effort to flush out the criminal, McAdam enters a sharp-shooting contest and wins the top prize: the eponymous Winchester rifle. Brown, desiring the rifle for himself, sneaks into McAdam's room and makes off with it. After finding the rifle missing, McAdam chases Brown across the state and toward an epic confrontation.

Johnny Cobb (James Stewart) is the part-time sheriff in a small, rundown town, trying to stretch his meager salary to provide for his growing family. Poor Cobb isn't much of a gunman, and he isn't particularly suited for fighting, but he's the man in charge when a gang of bandits led by Bob Larkin (Henry Fonda) rides into town. The tension rises as the bandits make themselves at home in Cobb's town, but when a gunfight breaks out, Cobb finds himself pushed to the limit.

Cowboy John O'Hanlan (James Stewart) is surprised to learn that someone's left him a business in Cheyenne, Wyo. He sets out to claim it -- and is shocked to discover that it's a brothel. Madam Jenny (Shirley Jones), who runs the place, is dismayed when O'Hanlan wants to close it down, but his plans are derailed when he finds out that a local customer has beaten Jenny. He kills the man in a shootout, and then must protect himself and the girls from the dead man's vengeful clan.
