The Badlanders
Peter Van Hoek emerges from jail with a plan to rob a gold mine and take revenge on the mine owner, the townspeople and the corrupt deputy who framed him for theft. Teaming up with John McBain, who owned the mine before being cheated out of it, Peter returns to the Arizona town where he was arrested. After meeting with mine owner Cyril, he assembles a team to steal gold from Cyril's mine and then sell it back to him.
The Proud Rebel
Confederate veteran John Chandler (Alan Ladd) returns from defeat in war to find his home razed, his wife dead and his young son, David (David Ladd), traumatized and rendered mute. Desperate to cure the boy, Chandler takes David to a small town in Illinois where he hopes to find a doctor. But, soon after the pair arrives, Chandler finds himself framed for assault — and forced to choose between serving hard time and working for struggling local farmer Linnett Moore (Olivia de Havilland).
The Saga of Hemp Brown
A U.S. cavalry officer, Hemp Brown (Rory Calhoun), runs into some serious trouble when the party of civilians and troops he's bringing to a nearby Army fort is ambushed. A woman is killed during the gunfight, and money is stolen by the bandits. The leader of the gang, Jed Givens (John Larch), is an acquaintance of Brown, who implicates the fugitive during the subsequent trial. But Brown is court-martialed and booted from the Army. Brown tracks down Givens to restore honor to his name.
