Heidi
An orphaned young girl named Heidi (Shirley Temple) lives happily with her grouchy but gentle grandfather, Adolph (Jean Hersholt) in the Swiss Alps. When she's stolen by her ruthless aunt, Dete (Mady Christians), and sold as a servant to the wealthy Herr Sesemann (Sidney Blackmer), Adolph embarks on a journey to find his granddaughter. Meanwhile, Heidi keeps her spirits high and befriends Sesemann's crippled daughter, Klara (Marcia Mae Jones), but longs to return home.
Captain January
Star (Shirley Temple) is a shipwrecked orphan girl growing up with a gentle lighthouse-keeper named Captain January (Guy Kibbee), who rescued her from the waves when she was just a baby. While she loves her life of dancing and spitting with sailors, a bitter truant officer believes that Star belongs in a boarding school. When the authorities insist that Star must leave her only guardian, Captain January fears that he may lose his lovable companion for good.

The child's performance and her spirit impress a young, wealthy trustee, Edward Morgan (John Boles), who poses as a lawyer with an offer of adoption for Elizabeth, but she won't leave without her sister. Edward decides to bring them both to his mansion, and soon begins to fall in love with Mary.
The Secret of Convict Lake
After a group of convicts escapes from prison, they take refuge in the wilderness. While most of the crew are ruthless sociopaths, Jim Canfield (Glenn Ford) is an innocent man who was jailed under false pretenses. When Canfield and his fellow fugitives reach an isolated farming settlement where the men are all away, it creates tension with the local women. Things get more dire when rumors of hidden money arise, and Canfield discovers that the man who framed him is part of the community.

There's a single piece of land around Flagstone with water on it, and rail baron Morton (Gabriele Ferzetti) aims to have it, knowing the new railroad will have to stop there. He sends his henchman Frank (Henry Fonda) to scare the land's owner, McBain (Frank Wolff), but Frank kills him instead and pins it on a known bandit, Cheyenne (Jason Robards). Meanwhile, a mysterious gunslinger with a score to settle (Charles Bronson) and McBain's new wife, Jill (Claudia Cardinale), arrive in town.

When half-breed Indian Yaqui Joe (Burt Reynolds) robs an Arizona bank, he is pursued by dogged lawman Lyedecker (Jim Brown). Fleeing to Mexico, Joe is imprisoned by General Verdugo (Fernando Lamas), who is waging a war against the Yaqui Indians. When Lyedecker attempts to intervene, he is thrown into prison as well. Working together, the two escape and take refuge in the hills, where Lyedecker meets beautiful Yaqui freedom fighter Sarita (Raquel Welch) and begins to question his allegiances.

When a shipment of repeating rifles is stolen from the U.S. Cavalry, Capt. Haven (Stuart Whitman) and Sgt. Franklyn are sent to recover them and enlist the aid of an alcoholic former confederate and Indian hater, James Lassiter (Richard Boone) and a Mexican murderer, Rodriguez (Tony Franciosa). Lassiter, who owns one of the rifles, says it came from his embittered former commander Col. Pardee, while an Apache woman informant reveals that Pardee intends to sell the stolen arms to her people.

Fugitive James "Stretch" Dawson (Gregory Peck) and his ring of bandits hide out in a town that has been deserted by its entire population, except for a young woman named Mike (Anne Baxter) and her grandfather. When Dude (Richard Widmark), the cruelest thug in the gang, learns from the two locals that there is gold nearby, he devises a scheme to knock off Mike and her grandpa, then gets his cohorts to go along with the plan. Stretch refuses, which leads to a violent power struggle.

There, Tobel is reunited with his wife, Charlotte (Kaaren Verne), to whom he gives a coded message in the event he disappears. Tobel presents the weapon he developed to government officials, and when he is subsequently abducted by arch-villain Professor Moriarty (Lionel Atwill), Holmes and Dr. Watson (Nigel Bruce) risk their lives to find him.
