How Green Was My Valley

Huw Morgan (Roddy McDowall), the academically inclined youngest son in a proud family of Welsh coal miners, witnesses the tumultuous events of his young life during a period of rapid social change. At the dawn of the 20th century, a miners' strike divides the Morgans: the sons demand improvements, and the father (Donald Crisp) doesn't want to rock the boat. Meanwhile, Huw's eldest sister, Angharad (Maureen O'Hara), pines for the new village preacher, Mr. Gruffydd (Walter Pidgeon).

Gentleman's Agreement

When journalist Phil Green (Gregory Peck) moves to New York City, he takes on a high-profile magazine assignment about anti-Semitism. Unaware that the Civil War has ended, Col. John Henry Thomas (John Wayne) successfully attacks a Confederate company led by James Langdon (Rock Hudson). With the remnants of Langdon's squadron fleeing to Mexico, Thomas and his adopted Native American son, Blue Boy (Roman Gabriel), gather a herd of horses and head for the border with their company, to sell them. After Langdon's caravan is captured by a Mexican general (Tony Aguilar), Thomas nobly sacrifices the horses to free them.

As the war threatens to drive a wedge between Pacer and his white brother, Clint (Steve Forrest), he takes matters into his own hands.

He is reincarnated, however, and two decades later he is a writer named Alex Finch (Robert Downey Jr.). After killing the stationmaster (Tyrone Power), the criminals keep the only other employee, Sam Todd (Edgar Buchanan), alive to avoid outside suspicion by maintaining a front of normalcy. But Todd and the other hostages, Vinnie Holt (Susan Hayward) and her young niece, plot to make an escape.

Nightclub singer Angie Evans (Susan Hayward) puts aside her successful career to marry struggling songwriter Ken Conway (Lee Bowman). Inspired by the birth of their daughter, Ken plays one of his ballads on a morning radio show, and his career explodes. As a stay-at-home wife and mother, Angie finds her shaky self-confidence slipping. Convinced Ken is having an affair with his secretary (Marsha Hunt), Angie begins drinking. When Ken files for divorce, Angie responds by kidnapping their daughter.
