The Kid From Left Field

Peanut vendor and washed-up baseball player "Coop" Cooper (Dan Dailey) teaches his 9-year-old son, Christy (Billy Chapin), all the game's finer points. When Christy becomes the new bat boy, his suggestions to the players lift the struggling team out of the basement. Owner Fred Whacker (Ray Collins) names Christy the team's head coach as a publicity stunt, changing the lives of everyone, including team secretary Marion Foley (Anne Bancroft) and her third-baseman fiancé (Lloyd Bridges).

How Green Was My Valley

Huw Morgan (Roddy McDowall), the academically inclined youngest son in a proud family of Welsh coal miners, witnesses the tumultuous events of his young life during a period of rapid social change. At the dawn of the 20th century, a miners' strike divides the Morgans: the sons demand improvements, and the father (Donald Crisp) doesn't want to rock the boat. Meanwhile, Huw's eldest sister, Angharad (Maureen O'Hara), pines for the new village preacher, Mr. Gruffydd (Walter Pidgeon).

One-Eyed Jacks

After pulling a bank heist in Mexico, the outlaw Rio (Marlon Brando) and his partner, Dad Longworth (Karl Malden), make a run for it, but Dad has bigger plans than freedom. He betrays Rio and absconds with the loot, and Rio ends up in prison. Years pass before Rio finally breaks free to enact his long-plotted revenge. Tracking Dad to California, Rio learns he's become a sheriff -- which is no deterrent -- but when Rio falls for Dad's stepdaughter, Louisa (Pina Pellicer), he has second thoughts.

Joan Graham (Sylvia Sidney) works as the secretary to the public defender. Unfortunately, she's fallen madly in love with a criminal by the name of Eddie Taylor (Henry Fonda). Convinced that Eddie is a good man with bad luck, she pulls some strings and gets Eddie released from prison early. The two get married, but while Eddie tries to fly right, he soon discovers he can't change his nature. His past comes knocking at their door, and the couple is forced to go into hiding.

I Was a Communist for the F.B.I.

During the Red Scare of the 1950s, FBI agent and Slovenian-American Matt Cvetic (Frank Lovejoy) poses as a Communist to infiltrate the U.S. Communist Party. Unable to tell his friends and family about the undercover mission, Matt is deemed a traitor to his country and condemned by everyone close to him. Although Matt often doubts his dangerous task, he remains undercover to bring the Communists to justice and protect a faltering member (Dorothy Hart) from her vindictive party.

High Wall

Steven Kenet (Robert Taylor) has been blacking out, which is particularly problematic because he has been convicted of a crime he thinks he did not commit -- murdering his wife. Afraid that brain surgery will allow his accusers to decree him insane, Kenet instead is sent to a mental hospital. At the hospital, Dr. Ann Lorrison (Audrey Totter) falls for Kenet. But after initially believing his story, she starts to doubt whether her patient, the man she loves, is innocent after all.
