Hush... Hush, Sweet Charlotte

Forty years ago, on the night they were meant to elope, Charlotte Hollis (Bette Davis) found her lover decapitated during a party, the blood on her dress leading everyone to suspect she was the murderer. Now, in 1964, Charlotte is an old recluse and must fight to keep her home. She enlists the help of her cousin Velma (Olivia de Havilland), who was there at the time of the murder. However, soon after Velma's arrival, Charlotte's mind becomes unstable, and she starts seeing her dead lover's head.

Where the Sidewalk Ends

Ashamed that his father lived a life of crime, hard-boiled New York City cop Mark Dixon (Dana Andrews) has a reputation for being too tough on criminals. So when Dixon unintentionally kills a murder suspect during a routine questioning, he hides the fact from the department and tries to pin the killing on his nemesis, notorious gangster Scalise (Gary Merrill). The snag in the cop's plan comes when his boss wrongly accuses the father of Dixon's love interest, Morgan (Gene Tierney), of the murder.

Scene of the Crime

When assigned to investigate the murder of a fellow plainclothes policeman, Los Angeles cop Mike Conovan (Van Johnson) follows his hunches straight to a burlesque dancer named Lili (Gloria DeHaven). With a tip from Lili, Conovan trails and arrests a mysterious man spotted at the scene of the crime. After the suspect is gunned down, Conovan's wife (Arlene Dahl) convinces her husband to quit the force -- but can the detective stay away from the case after another fellow officer is murdered?

Violent Saturday

For the residents of a small mining town, the weekend begins like any other in their respective lives. Shelley Martin (Victor Mature) is a man who yearns for his son's respect. Boyd Fairchild (Richard Egan), a cuckold, still loves his wife. Bank manager Harry Reeves (Tommy Noonan) is a voyeur, while librarian Elsie Braden (Sylvia Sidney) is a thief. But when a gang of criminals led by the vicious Harper (Stephen McNally) holds up the town's bank, all of their lives change dramatically.

The nuptials between New York City attorney Michael Fraser (Michael Whalen) and his secretary, Julie Hayes (Gloria Stuart), hit a snag when a case inspires Julie to postpone their wedding in favor of trying to help save Peter Vincent (Robert Kellard), an innocent man accused of murder, from a death sentence. Upon discovering that the murderer is actually Peter's gangster father, Johnny Doyle (Paul Kelly), Michael and Julie attempt to clear Peter's name and get the truth out about Johnny.

Compulsion

Sociopathic students Artie Straus (Bradford Dillman) and Judd Steiner (Dean Stockwell) murder a boy in a philosophical exercise to commit the flawless crime. Despite their precautions, one of them inadvertently left a key piece of evidence at the crime scene, and they have been arrested and put on trial. It's up to their nationally famous attorney (Orson Welles) to save these misguided souls from execution. The film is based on the infamous Leopold and Loeb case of 1924.

Terror by Night

In London, Lady Margaret Carstairs and her son, Roland, engage renowned detective Sherlock Holmes to accompany them back home to Scotland as protection for their priceless gem, the Star of Rhodesia. When Roland turns up murdered and the Star disappears, Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson investigate, only to discover another murder, and a strange connection with Watson's acquaintance Maj. Duncan-Bleek.

The Violent Men

Former Union soldier John Parrish (Glenn Ford) wants to sell his ranch and start a new life by settling down out east. However, the ruthless tactics of Lew Wilkison (Edward G. Robinson), the scheming businessman interested in his property, make Parrish reconsider the move, especially after one of his ranch hands is murdered. Adding to the increasingly tense conflict is Wilkison's wife, Martha (Barbara Stanwyck), who is cheating on her husband with his brother, Cole (Brian Keith).

Phone Call From a Stranger

After discovering that his wife has been unfaithful, attorney David Trask (Gary Merrill) decides to fly to Los Angeles. He becomes friendly with three other passengers, each with his own story: salesman Eddie Hoke (Keenan Wynn), actress Binky Gay (Shelley Winters) and Dr. Bob Fortness (Michael Rennie). When the plane crashes and the other three are among the dead, Trask decides to visit the families of each. He helps them cope and also finds out some surprises about his new friends.

Suspense

After the mysterious Joe Morgan (Barry Sullivan) starts working for ice skating magnate Frank Leonard, Joe suggests improvements to the skating show that stars Leonard's wife, Roberta (Belita). Due to these ideas, Leonard promotes Morgan to a managerial position. However, Morgan soon starts trying to seduce Roberta as well. Once Leonard disappears in an avalanche, Roberta is left wondering whether he is alive or dead. She must also decide how much she can trust Morgan.

Marked Woman

Fiery nightclub dame Mary Dwight Strauber (Bette Davis) witnesses a murder at the Club Intime, but is terrified to testify against her slimy boss, notorious mobster Johnny Vanning (Eduardo Ciannelli). When Mary's innocent sister, Betty (Jane Bryan), gets mixed up in Vanning's racket and winds up dead, Mary finally yields to pressure from the District Attorney (Humphrey Bogart) and agrees to testify against Vanning in court, regardless of the death threats she receives from his henchmen.

Moontide

Bobo (Jean Gabin), a lonely longshoreman with a nasty drinking problem, awakes after a rough bender with no memory of the night before and an unsettling suspicion that he has killed someone. Deeply rattled, he buries himself in work on a remote barge and finds a new distraction after rescuing a suicidal waitress (Ida Lupino) from the cruel waters. Soon love blossoms between this melancholy pair, but Tiny (Thomas Mitchell), Bobo's jealous pal, has dark plans to regain Bobo's full attention.

Whatever Happened to Aunt Alice?

Claire Marrable (Geraldine Page) is a widow whose housekeepers have a mysteriously high turnover rate. When Marrable's most recent maid goes missing, the maid's former employer, Alice Dimmock (Ruth Gordon), takes the job to investigate the disappearance. With the help of her nephew (Robert Fuller), Alice discovers that the widow is responsible for the missing housekeepers and attempts to reveal Marrable's dark secrets -- before she disappears as well.

Belle Starr

After the Civil War, Union troops catch Belle Shirley (Gene Tierney), a Southern belle, harboring the wanted Confederate guerrilla fighter Sam Starr (Randolph Scott). In retribution, Union major and old friend Thomas Crail (Dana Andrews) must follow orders by burning down their home and arresting Shirley's brother (John Shepperd). Incensed, Shirley springs Starr from jail and joins his rebels. But after marrying Starr, Shirley discovers the outlaw life is not what she thought it would be.

Once Upon a Time in the West

There's a single piece of land around Flagstone with water on it, and rail baron Morton (Gabriele Ferzetti) aims to have it, knowing the new railroad will have to stop there. He sends his henchman Frank (Henry Fonda) to scare the land's owner, McBain (Frank Wolff), but Frank kills him instead and pins it on a known bandit, Cheyenne (Jason Robards). Meanwhile, a mysterious gunslinger with a score to settle (Charles Bronson) and McBain's new wife, Jill (Claudia Cardinale), arrive in town.
