Cantankerous retiree Norman Thayer (Henry Fonda) and his conciliatory wife, Ethel (Katharine Hepburn), spend summers at their New England vacation home on the shores of idyllic Golden Pond. This year, their adult daughter, Chelsea (Jane Fonda), visits with her new fiancée and his teenage son, Billy (Doug McKeon) on their way to Europe. After leaving Billy behind to bond with Norman, Chelsea returns, attempting to repair the long-strained relationship with her aging father before it's too late.

House of Strangers

Gino Monetti has made his fortune banking, but he hasn't done it legally. When the authorities come after him, three of his sons turn their backs on him, angry over how he treated them in the past. Max, his fourth son, stands by his father during his trial and stays loyal to him even when he is sent to prison. Max plots revenge against his brothers for betraying their father, while his brothers plot their own revenge against him.

Nick Garcos (Richard Conte) comes back from his tour of duty in World War II planning to settle down with his girlfriend, Polly Faber (Barbara Lawrence). He learns, however, that his father was recently beaten and burglarized by mob-connected trucker Mike Figlia (Lee J. Cobb), and Nick resolves to get even. He partners with prostitute Rica (Valentina Cortese), and together they go after Mike, all the while getting pulled further into the local crime underworld.

Martin Rome (Richard Conte) is a cop killer and jewel thief who escapes from prison, with two police detectives, Candella (Victor Mature) and Collins (Fred Clark), hot on his trail. Not only is Rome wanted for murder, he is now also accused of masterminding a major jewel robbery. On the run, Rome is helped by a sleazy lawyer (Berry Kroeger) and two girlfriends, Teena (Debra Paget) and Brenda (Shelley Winters). Rome's plan: recover the hidden jewels from his lawyer and leave the country.

The Most Dangerous Game

When legendary hunter Bob Rainsford (Joel McCrea) is shipwrecked on the perilous reefs surrounding a mysterious island, he finds himself the guest of the reclusive and eccentric Count Zaroff (Leslie Banks). While he is very gracious at first, Zaroff eventually forces Rainsford and two other shipwreck survivors, brother and sister Eve (Fay Wray) and Martin Trowbridge (Robert Armstrong), to participate in a sadistic game of cat and mouse in which they are the prey, and he is the hunter.

Confederate veteran John Chandler (Alan Ladd) returns from defeat in war to find his home razed, his wife dead and his young son, David (David Ladd), traumatized and rendered mute. Desperate to cure the boy, Chandler takes David to a small town in Illinois where he hopes to find a doctor. But, soon after the pair arrives, Chandler finds himself framed for assault -- and forced to choose between serving hard time and working for struggling local farmer Linnet Moore (Olivia de Havilland).

Lawman Wyatt Earp (Burt Lancaster) and gunfighter John "Doc" Holliday (Kirk Douglas) find themselves together again in Tombstone, Ariz., despite the tumultuous history between them. Meanwhile, Holliday becomes incensed with the decision of Kate Fisher (Jo Van Fleet) to turn him down in favor of another gunfighter (John Ireland), ultimately leading Holliday to join Earp's side in a confrontation with the Claytons.

Detour

In New York, piano player Al Roberts (Tom Neal) laments when his singer girlfriend, Sue Harvey (Claudia Drake), leaves for Hollywood, Calif. When Al gets some money, he decides to hitchhike to California to join Sue. In Arizona, Al accepts a ride with Charles Haskell (Edmund MacDonald), but during a storm in a freak accident, Haskell is killed. Frightened, Al assumes Haskell's identity and car, but soon comes upon the mysterious Vera (Ann Savage), who seems to know all about his true identity.

Mackenna's Gold
