Aarti (Rekha), a homely but wealthy widow, is the unwitting target of a scheme to divest her of her family, fortune and life. Her father is killed by one of his workers. The worker's nephew Sanjay (Kabir Bedi) woos her and weds her, then tosses her into a crocodile-filled lake (aided by her best friend, her husband's secret lover) with the goal of inheriting his dead wife's riches.
