Gautam Govinda
Impressed with the dedication shown by Inspector Gautam, the Commissioner assigns him to police a lawless town where no police officer has survived for more than a few days. Gautam accepts this assignment and he finds the town is indeed over-run by criminals, and ruled over by Dharamdutt. When Dharamdutt comes to know about Gautam, he asks his personal hit-man, a man who has never been beaten by anyone, to get rid of him.
Dushman
After a night of heavy drinking, truck driver Surjit Singh (Rajesh Khanna) accidentally runs over a farmer. Sentenced by the judge to look after the dead man's relatives, Surjit is greeted with anger by neighboring villagers on his way to their land. Upon his arrival, he is introduced to the whole family, including Ganga Din (Nana Palsikar), the farmer's father, his widow, Malti (Meena Kumari), and her two children. Despite their initial hatred for him, the family grows fond of repentant Surjit.

When Iqbal was young he was separated from his mother and brother by a flood, and he becomes a coolie at Mumbai railway station. Coolies are at the bottom of the social ladder and treated badly by others, so Iqbal pledges to fight for Coolie rights, as they are the only family he has. The businessman at the core of the conflict is the same man who kept his family from him. In defeating him, Iqbal may kill two birds with one stone.
