Campeonato Nacional de Hóquei em Patins FemininoThe Campeonato Nacional de Hóquei em Patins Feminino (known as CNHP) is the premier professional roller hockey league in the country, exclusively for female players. It is the ultimate competition in Portugal for roller hockey players. Established in 2010, the league consists of some of Portugal's biggest and most successful roller hockey teams, playing for the championship in a double round-robin format. At the end of the season, the top four clubs qualify for the playoffs, where they fight for playoff spots and a shot at the championship. The top tier league is currently dominated by Cerveira Roller Hockey (CRH), one of the biggest names in roller hockey, with six championships in their arsenal (2010-2013, 2015-17). Other teams that have enjoyed success in the CNHP are SC Patricia for Women (first to four championships in 2007-2009 and 2014), SL Rafa for Women and Porto Roller Hockey Women. The CNHP is also a platform for some of the best players in the country, many of whom have gone on to represent Portugal at the highest level in international competitions. Some of the top players currently playing in the league are Mariana Cabrita (SC Patricia For Women), Joana Soares (CRH), Catarina Galante (Porto Roller Hockey Women) and Cláudia Pacin (SL Rafa for Women). The CNHP continues to provide competitive and entertaining roller hockey for women in Portugal and shows no signs of slowing down. With the regular season and playoffs lasting over a period of several months, the CNHP brings a great spectacle of roller hockey to Portugal from September to March. With so many talented teams and players, there is no doubt that the Campeonato Nacional de Hóquei em Patins Feminino will remain one of the most prestigious roller hockey leagues in the country for years to come.
