Athletes Unlimited SoftballAthletes Unlimited Softball is a professional softball league created in 2020. Featuring some of the world’s best softball players, Athletes Unlimited Softball is now entering its second year. The league’s inaugural season offered up intense matchups between 48 elite softball players from the United States and around the world. Athletes Unlimited Softball aims to create an innovative competitive format which provides players with more control over their scheduling and gameplay.
The season is broken up into five events – Red, White, Blue, Gold, and Pink – each lasting four days. Each event begins with a handful of games featuring rotating captains, who participate in a nightly draft to select their team. Captains are awarded points for each win, and the highest-scoring captain at the end of the event is deemed the winner.
Athletes Unlimited Softball also offers playoffs, which involve the top four highest-scoring captains from each event competing to reach the championship finals. This season, some of the popular teams participating in the league are Team USA, Team Canada, Team Japan, Team England and Team Australia.
Popular current players competing in the 2021 season include Hall of Famer and Team USA Captain Jennie Finch, Future Hall of Famer and Team Canada Captain Amanda Chidester, and Team USA Pitcher Danielle O'Toole.
Athletes Unlimited Softball has grown immensely during its short lifespan, with viewership numbers more than doubling from its inaugural season. The league continues to provide innovative entertainment and intense competition to its viewers and fans.
