College football is a sport that has been played for over 150 years. It is one of the most popular and beloved sports in the United States, with hundreds of millions of fans cheering on their favourite college football teams every fall. College football is a game in which teams of student-athletes from universities and colleges compete against each other in an exciting and thrilling battle of offensive and defensive football. The sport consists of 11-on-11 matches, usually played on Saturdays during the fall months in stadiums across America. College football's regular season usually begins in late August or early September and ends in early December. The teams are decided by each school's football conference - e.g. the SEC, the ACC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and more. After the regular season, some teams will be chosen to compete in the post-season playoffs that will decide the national champion. The most popular college football teams in the country are Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers. The history of College football is filled with legendary teams and players, such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Michigan Wolverines, Charles Woodson, and Marcus Mariota. Some of the most memorable games in College Football history include the 1969 ‘Game of the Century’ between the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks, the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas, and the 2012 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. The No. 8 Nittany Lions complete a home-and-home series with the Mountaineers by roaming into West Virginia. The Lions prevailed 38-15 last season. In 2023, West Virginia achieved its first winning campaign in a full season under Neal Brown at 9-4.

Notre Dame at Clemson

The Tar Heels take a trip down Tobacco Road to face the Wolfpack. North Carolina leads the series 68-38-6. NC State won 30-27 in overtime in 2022. Entering Week 13, Heels sophomore Drake Maye was sixth nationally with 3,354 passing yards.

Howard at Rutgers

The Scarlet Knights host the Bison. In 2023, Rutgers defeated Miami 31-24 in the Pinstripe Bowl for its first postseason victory in nine years. Howard appeared in the school's fourth bowl game, falling 30-26 to Florida A&M in the Celebration Bowl.

The No. 24 Wolfpack welcome the Catamounts to Raleigh, N.C., for a Tar Heel State tussle. Grayson McCall makes his NC State debut after throwing for 10,005 yards with 88 touchdown passes against 14 interceptions in 42 games at Coastal Carolina.

The Tar Heels and Golden Gophers kick off their 2024 campaigns with this contest in Minneapolis. North Carolina begins life without Drake Maye as the starting quarterback for two years was selected third overall in the 2024 NFL draft by New England.

Coastal Carolina at Jacksonville State

Jacksonville State opens the curtain for its second FBS season by hosting Coastal Carolina. The Gamecocks went 9-4 under coach Rich Rodriguez in 2023. Chanticleers quarterback Ethan Vasko runs the offense after Grayson McCall transferred to NC State.

Eastern Illinois at Illinois

A showdown between Prairie State foes sees the Fighting Illini square off against the Panthers in Week 1. Bret Bielema sets out in search of his second winning season in year four at the helm of Illinois. These programs last matched up in 2008.
