NCAAFCollege football is a sport that has been played for over 150 years. It is one of the most popular and beloved sports in the United States, with hundreds of millions of fans cheering on their favourite college football teams every fall. College football is a game in which teams of student-athletes from universities and colleges compete against each other in an exciting and thrilling battle of offensive and defensive football. The sport consists of 11-on-11 matches, usually played on Saturdays during the fall months in stadiums across America.
College football's regular season usually begins in late August or early September and ends in early December. The teams are decided by each school's football conference - e.g. the SEC, the ACC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and more. After the regular season, some teams will be chosen to compete in the post-season playoffs that will decide the national champion.
The most popular college football teams in the country are Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers. Some of the most popular current college football players are Justin Fields, Trevor Lawrence, Ian Book, Tua Tagovailoa, Jalen Hurts, and Jonathan Taylor.
The history of College football is filled with legendary teams and players, such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Michigan Wolverines, Charles Woodson, and Marcus Mariota. Some of the most memorable games in College Football history include the 1969 ‘Game of the Century’ between the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks, the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas, and the 2012 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame.

Clemson at DukeNCAAFA seldom-seen ACC showdown begins the 2023 campaign for the No. 9 Tigers and Blue Devils. The two sides have met just twice across the past 15 seasons, with Clemson winning both decisively. Mike Elko led Duke to a 9-4 record and a bowl win in 2022.

Southern vs Grambling StateNCAAFThe Jaguars and Tigers contest their annual rivalry match. Since the Bayou Classic began in 1974, Southern leads the series 25-24 after a 34-17 win over Grambling State in 2022. Both schools are 5-5 overall with 4-3 conference records in 2023.
Clemson at MiamiNCAAFThe Tigers (4-2, 2-2 ACC) try to stay strong against the Hurricanes (4-2, 0-2). Clemson claimed the last four meetings, including a 40-10 home victory over Miami in 2022. Miami fell short against then-No. 12 North Carolina in its last outing.
Arizona at StanfordNCAAFThe Wildcats open their Pac-12 slate by challenging the Cardinal in the Bay Area. Stanford has won six in a row over Arizona, a stretch that began in 2010. Stanford kicked off its conference schedule with a 56-10 loss at then-No. 6 USC on Sept. 9.

Colorado at UtahNCAAFThe Utes (7-4, 4-4 Pac-12) try for their seventh straight victory over the Buffaloes (4-7, 1-7). Utah has won by an average of 24.7 points during the run. Colorado has lost five in a row, and seven of its last eight under coach Deion Sanders.
Notre Dame at StanfordNCAAFThe Fighting Irish visit the Cardinal. Sam Hartman (ND) needs three TD throws to move into third place all-time in FBS play. Entering Week 13, Xavier Watts (ND) led the nation with seven interceptions. Stanford beat Notre Dame 16-14 in 2022.
Miami at NC StateNCAAFThe Wolfpack try to nail down bowl eligibility when they host the Hurricanes. Miami has won four straight over NC State after earning a one-point decision in 2021. The Hurricanes have won back-to-back overtime contests to even their ACC record.
Tennessee at MissouriNCAAFThe No. 13 Volunteers visit the No. 14 Tigers in a clash of teams sitting 7-2, 3-2 in the SEC. The Vols have won four straight meetings. Missouri put up a valiant effort last week but fell at undefeated Georgia 30-21. Tennessee routed UConn 59-3.
Georgia at TennesseeNCAAFNo. 1 Georgia and No. 18 Tennessee resume their annual rivalry series. Georgia has won 27 contests in a row. The Bulldogs have claimed six straight meetings, including their first over a top-ranked Volunteers team in 2022, to lead the series 27-23-2.
Arizona State at StanfordNCAAFThe Cardinal (2-4, 0-4 Pac-12) are in a better place as they host the Sun Devils (2-4, 1-2). Stanford snapped an 11-game slide against FBS opponents with a 16-14 victory at Notre Dame in Week 7. Arizona State stunned then-No. 21 Washington on Oct. 8.

Stanford at CaliforniaNCAAFThe Golden Bears host the Cardinal on the eve of the 40th anniversary of one of the most iconic plays in history. California beat Stanford 25-20 in 1982 on a multi-lateral kickoff return for a TD, with the Cardinal band on the field, as time expired.

Ohio State vs GeorgiaNCAAFThe No. 1 Bulldogs face the No. 4 Buckeyes in a College Football Playoff semifinal. Defending champion Georgia earned a 50-30 win over LSU for the SEC title. Ohio State reached the final in 2021, and won during the first year of the CFP in 2014.
Louisville vs Georgia TechNCAAFJeff Brohm takes the helm at Louisville as the Cardinals visit the Yellow Jackets for an ACC game. Brohm went 36-34 from 2017-22 at Purdue. Georgia Tech's Brent Keys begins his first full year after replacing Geoff Collins last season and going 4-4.
Georgia vs FloridaNCAAFFlorida plays No. 1 Georgia. The Bulldogs remained at No. 1 in the AP Top 25 for the 19th straight week, the third-longest streak in history. Georgia has won 24 in a row, and also ranks top-10 nationally in points per game and total team defense.
Vanderbilt at Wake ForestNCAAFThe Demon Deacons and Commodores look to continue their winning ways. Vanderbilt improved to 2-0 by beating Alabama A&M 47-13 on Sept. 2. Jahmal Banks made six catches for 108 yards and a touchdown to help Wake Forest defeat Elon 37-17 in its opener.
Oregon at Texas TechNCAAFThe Red Raiders play host to the No. 13 Ducks. Oregon's offense set the modern school record for points scored in a game during an 81-7 rout of Portland State on Sept. 2. Texas Tech dropped its season opener versus Wyoming in double overtime.
Washington State at WashingtonNCAAFWashington and Washington State play for the final Apple Cup as members of the Pac-12. The undefeated Huskies, who have already clinched a spot in the Pac-12 title game, lead the series 75-33-6. Washington moves to the Big Ten next season.
Appalachian State at North CarolinaNCAAFThe No. 17 Tar Heels host the Mountaineers. North Carolina edged past Appalachian State 63-61 in a wild 2022 meeting, with the two sides combining to score 62 points in the fourth quarter alone. UNC won its 2023 opener over South Carolina 31-17.
Missouri at TennesseeNCAAFThe No. 5 Volunteers (8-1, 4-1 SEC) try to bounce back as they host the Tigers (4-5, 2-4) in Week 11. Tennessee earned the top spot in the initial College Football Playoff ranking, but promptly fell 27-13 to defending champion and then-No. 3 Georgia.
Virginia vs TennesseeNCAAFThe No. 12 Volunteers begin 2023 by playing the ACC's Cavaliers. In 2022, Tennessee went 11-2 and sat No. 1 on the initial College Football Playoff ranking in November before ending the season with a decisive victory over Clemson in the Orange Bowl.
Florida State at ClemsonNCAAFClemson (2-1, 0-1 ACC) looks to stop the momentum of No. 4 Florida State (3-0, 1-0). The Tigers have won seven in a row against the Seminoles. Clemson running back Will Shipley turned 20 carries into 121 yards in last season's 34-28 victory.

NC State at VirginiaNCAAFNC State and Virginia renew their rivalry with a Friday night clash. The Wolfpack won the past two meetings with the Cavaliers. Senior quarterback Brennan Armstrong threw for 264 yards and a touchdown in NC State's 45-7 romp of VMI on Sept. 16.
North Carolina at Georgia TechNCAAFThe No. 17 Tar Heels (6-1, 3-1 ACC) try to bounce back from a stunning upset as they host the Yellow Jackets (3-4, 2-2). North Carolina was a four-touchdown favorite when it lost at home to Virginia 31-27. Georgia Tech has won two straight meetings.
Tennessee at FloridaNCAAFThe Gators host the No. 11 Volunteers. Florida piled up 327 rushing yards and six TDs on the ground in its victory over McNeese on Sept. 9. Tennessee's Jaylen Wright sat third in the nation with 9.32 yards per rush when play concluded in Week 2.
LSU at Mississippi StateNCAAFMississippi State hosts No. 14 LSU to begin SEC play. The Tigers won last year's game versus the Bulldogs, 31-16. Mississippi State needed overtime to beat Arizona 31-24 and move to 2-0 in Week 2. LSU leveled its record by pummeling Grambling 72-10.
Auburn at CaliforniaNCAAFThe Golden Bears begin their home slate with a date against the Tigers. California scored six rushing touchdowns in a season-opening 58-21 romp at North Texas on Sept. 2. The Hugh Freeze era began at Auburn with a 59-14 rout of UMass that same day.
Weber State at UtahNCAAFAn all-Beehive State battle sees the Wildcats (2-0) step up to face the No. 12 Utes (2-0). Utah started its campaign with defensive wins over Florida and Baylor. Weber State has lost four straight to Utah by an average of 33.25 points per game.
California at OregonNCAAFHeisman Trophy contender Bo Nix and the No. 6 Ducks (7-1, 4-1 Pac-12) host the Golden Bears (3-5, 1-4). Oregon leads the series 42-41-2 after winning 12 of the last 14 meetings. Nix has completed 78.3% of his passes with 21 TDs and one interception.
Virginia Tech at LouisvilleNCAAFThe No. 13 Cardinals roll into this meeting against the Hokies. Louisville comes off a shutout victory over then-No. 20 Duke, its second win versus an AP Top-25 team in three contests. Virginia Tech prevailed 42-35 in the last get-together in 2020.
South Carolina at GeorgiaNCAAFThe Gamecocks face a tall order in their SEC opener versus the No. 1 Bulldogs. Georgia is 2-0 while outscoring its opponents 93-10. Spencer Rattler connected on 25-of-27 pass attempts for 345 yards and three touchdowns in South Carolina's Week 2 win.
Ole Miss at AlabamaNCAAFThe No. 15 Rebels face the No. 13 Crimson Tide in an SEC opener. Alabama fell from the top-10 rankings for the first time since 2015 despite a 17-3 win at South Florida in Week 3. Ole Miss moved to 3-0 with a strong second half against Georgia Tech.
NC State at DukeNCAAFConference rivals meet for just the sixth time since 2003 as No. 17 Duke (4-1, 1-0 ACC) hosts NC State (4-2, 1-1). The Blue Devils' unbeaten season ended in a 21-14 match against the Fighting Irish on Sept. 30. The Wolf Pack are 2-0 on the road.
Michigan at Penn StateNCAAFThe No. 3 Wolverines (9-0, 6-0 Big Ten) visit the No. 10 Nittany Lions (8-1, 5-1). Michigan has defeated its opponents, all unranked, by an average margin of 34 points. Penn State moved up a spot in the CFP rankings following a win at Maryland.
Arizona at Mississippi StateNCAAFPower Five programs meet as the Bulldogs (1-0) host the Wildcats (1-0). Mississippi State quarterback Will Rogers passed for 313 yards and four TDs in a 39-17 triumph at Arizona on Sept. 10, 2022. Arizona dumped Northern Arizona 38-3 in its opener.
Duke at Florida StateNCAAFThe No. 4 Seminoles host the No. 16 Blue Devils for a critical ACC contest. Florida State improved to 6-0 for the first time in eight years by routing Syracuse in Week 7. Duke bounced back by thrashing NC State. Florida State has won all 21 meetings.
Georgia at AuburnNCAAFThe No. 1 Bulldogs hit the road for the first time this season as they try to make it seven in a row over the SEC rival Tigers. Two-time defending national champion Georgia extended its win streak to 21 games with a 49-21 triumph over UAB in Week 4.
Georgia Southern vs OhioNCAAFBowl season begins as the Bobcats (9-3) and Eagles (6-6) clash in the Myrtle Beach Bowl. Ohio is 4-0 in bowl games since 2017. Georgia Southern qualified for the postseason for a second straight year under Clay Helton, but has dropped four in a row.
Howard vs Florida A&MNCAAFThe Bison line up with the Rattlers in the Celebration Bowl. On Nov. 18, Howard held off Beltway rival Morgan State to capture the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference crown. Florida A&M, three-time member of the MEAC, won 10 in a row to seize the SWAC.
Jacksonville State vs LouisianaNCAAFThe Gamecocks (8-4) square off with the Ragin' Cajuns (6-6) in the New Orleans Bowl. Louisiana Lafayette needed a 52-21 victory over rival Louisiana Monroe to secure a postseason berth. Jacksonville State makes its bowl debut in its first FBS season.
Miami (OH) vs Appalachian StateNCAAFThe RedHawks (11-2) and Mountaineers (8-5) come together for the Cure Bowl in Orlando, Fla. Miami (Ohio) won the MAC and is 5-0 since sophomore Aveon Smith replaced injured quarterback Brett Gabbert. Appalachian State fell in the Sun Belt final.
New Mexico State vs Fresno StateNCAAFThe Aggies enjoy a home-state advantage when they face the Bulldogs in the New Mexico Bowl. New Mexico State seeks a second straight bowl victory after reaching double-digit wins for the first time in 63 years. Fresno State won this bowl in 2021.
UCLA vs Boise StateNCAAFUCLA feels right at home as it battles Mountain West champion Boise State in the LA Bowl. Boise State brings a four-game win streak to the proceedings after routing UNLV 44-20 for the MWC title behind Ashton Jeanty's 153 rushing yards and TD.
California vs Texas TechNCAAFThe Red Raiders go up against the Golden Bears in the Independence Bowl. Texas Tech won bowl games by a combined 44 points over the last two years. California qualified for its first bowl since 2019 by winning its final three regular-season contests.
UCF vs DukeNCAAFThe Knights (9-4) battle the Blue Devils (8-4) in the Military Bowl. The programs have never met. UCF has alternated wins and losses in each of the last six years in bowl games after beating Florida 29-17 in the 2021 Gasparilla Bowl.
Louisville at NC StateNCAAFThe Cardinals visit the Wolfpack. Louisville (4-0, 2-0 ACC) leads the all-time series with NC State (3-1, 1-0) by an 8-4 margin after a 25-10 decision in 2022. Cardinals receiver Jamari Thrash has turned 19 catches into 400 yards and five touchdowns.
Georgia Tech at MiamiNCAAFThe No. 17 Hurricanes open up their ACC schedule by hosting the Yellow Jackets. Miami beat Georgia Tech in each of the past two seasons, and has scored 43.8 points per game in 2023 in getting out to its first 4-0 start since the 2017 campaign.
Utah at USCNCAAFA marquee Pac-12 matchup pits the No. 18 Trojans (6-1, 4-0) against the No. 14 Utes (5-1, 2-1) in Week 8. Utah eked out a one-point home victory over USC last season, then clobbered the Trojans 47-24 to claim the 2022 Pac-12 championship.
Western Kentucky vs Old DominionNCAAFThe Hilltoppers (7-5) play the Monarchs (6-6) in the 2023 Famous Toastery Bowl. Western Kentucky is 6-2 in bowl games since 2014, while Old Dominion's lone victory was at the Bahamas Bowl in 2016. Western Kentucky topped Old Dominion 43-20 in 2021.
Southern Utah at Arizona StateNCAAFThe Sun Devils host the Thunderbirds. On Aug. 27, Arizona State announced it will observe a self-imposed postseason ban for this year as the NCAA continues to investigate alleged infractions that occurred under former head coach Herm Edwards.
Appalachian State at TroyNCAAFThe Trojans look to claim a second straight Sun Belt championship as they host the Mountaineers. Appalachian State has come out of the East Division in four of six years, but seeks its first title since 2019. App State has won five straight meetings.
Prairie View A&M at Florida A&MNCAAFThe Panthers and Rattlers compete for the SWAC championship. Prairie View A&M most recently played for the title in 2021, but fell to the first of two Deion Sanders-led Jackson State squads. Florida A&M won the regular-season meeting 45-7 in October.
Oregon vs WashingtonNCAAFCFP hopefuls in the No. 3 Huskies (12-0) and No. 5 Ducks (11-1) compete for the Pac-12 championship. Washington scored a 36-33 win over Oregon in October. The Huskies last won the conference title in 2018. The Ducks prevailed in 2019 and 2020.
Georgia vs AlabamaNCAAFNo. 1 Georgia plays No. 8 Alabama in the SEC Championship game. This marks the first meeting since the Bulldogs beat the Crimson Tide in the 2021 national championship game. The two schools have combined to win eight of the past nine SEC titles.
Miami (OH) vs ToledoNCAAFDequan Finn and the Rockets meet the RedHawks in the Mid-American Conference championship game at Ford Field in Detroit. Finn, a Motor City native, passed for two touchdowns and ran for another as Toledo defeated Miami (Ohio) 21-17 in October.

Tulsa at WashingtonNCAAFMichael Penix Jr. and the No. 8 Huskies keep rolling as they host the Golden Hurricane. Penix Jr., the second-leading passer nationwide in 2022, threw for 450 yards and five touchdowns in Washington's season-opening rout of Boise State on Sept. 2.
