Minor League Baseball dates back to 1901, starting with the founding of the Western League, followed by the American Association and the Eastern League - each of which are still active today and considered the “Triple-A” level of the Minor League Baseball System. While there is no set number of teams in each league, the number of teams typically ranges from 15-30. Minor League Baseball is known for its relaxed stadium atmosphere and exciting players. The season typically runs from early April to early September. During this period, teams will play a series of short series against opponents within their respective divisions. At the end of the regular season, the team with the best overall record in each division will advance to the playoffs to compete for the League Championship. The winner of the Championship will then generally receive an automatic invitation to compete in the larger Minor League Baseball championship tournament-the League Championship Series.
