MLB

Major League Baseball (MLB) is the premier baseball league in the United States and Canada, composed of 30 teams divided into the American League and National League. Established in 1903, MLB is the oldest of the four major professional sports leagues in North America. MLB is highly popular, with an international fan base and generates billions of dollars in revenue each year. Over the course of each season, each team plays a total of 162 games, between April and October. Teams are split into divisions, with the top teams in each division going on to compete in the playoffs. During playoffs, teams have a chance to qualify for the World Series, the championship series in MLB. The World Series has been incredibly competitive throughout its history, with several teams fighting for the championship in a best-of-seven playoff series. The MLB boasts some of the most talented players in sports, including the likes of Gerrit Cole, Mike Trout, Max Scherzer, and Aaron Judge. Popular teams include the New York Yankees, Los Angeles Dodgers, and Boston Red Sox, who have all seen plenty of success throughout the season and have a multitude of fans around the globe. In 2020, the Los Angeles Dodgers won their first World Series in 32 years, while the Boston Red Sox became the first team to win consecutive seasons since 2000. Throughout the course of MLB’s history, some of the all-time greats have graced the hallowed grounds of the league. These players include Babe Ruth, Ted Williams, Willie Mays, and Mickey Mantle. These legendary players have inspired fans and teammates alike to strive to reach their own greatness. Since 2003, the MLB has seen over 27,000 players take part in games and have gone on to set several record feats. Hundreds of memorabilia from iconic games and legendary players have gone on to be enshrined in hall of fame museums, and have gone on to become cherished possessions for fans around the world.
