Women's College BasketballWomen's College Basketball is a fast-paced and intense sport that has been gaining a lot of attention in recent years. Every season features some of the best and brightest young female athletes in the world as they showcase their extraordinary skills on the court. There are numerous collegiate teams competing in the NCAA Women's Basketball Division I and II with top programs such as UConn Huskies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Baylor Lady Bears, Louisville Cardinals, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Stanford Cardinals, Oregon State Beavers, and many more.
The regular season for Women's College Basketball begins in November and concludes with the Big Dance: the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. During the regular season, teams play for their respective conferences in an effort to win their conference championship and compete for an at-large bid to the Tournament. The post-season also features the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) and conference tournaments that determine which teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament is a single-elimination tournament made up of 64 teams that includes conference champions plus 31 other teams chosen by a selection committee. The tournament culminates in the Women’s Final Four, which is a highly anticipated event that brings together the best college teams in the nation to compete for the national championship.
There are several top contenders in the Women's College Basketball world right now, including Breanna Stewart and Nikkie Caldwell from UConn, Notre Dame’s Natalie Achonwa, and Baylor’s Odyssey Sims. All four of these standouts were recently selected in the first round of the 2014 WNBA draft. Other top players and their respective teams include Brittany Griner with the Baylor Bears, Skylar Diggins with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Chiney Ogwumike with the Stanford Cardinal.
Women's college basketball is a historic and cherished sport that has been around since the 1940's. The inaugural women’s championship in 1982 marked the birth of the Women’s NIT Tournament, the predecessor to the current NCAA tournament. Nebraska is 10-6 all-time versus Michigan State, but DeeDee Hagemann's 18 points led the Spartans to drop the Cornhuskers 67-64 in the second round of the 2023 Big Ten Tournament.
Maryland vs Ohio StateWomen's College BasketballThe No. 1 Buckeyes face the No. 8 Terrapins in a Big Ten Tournament quarterfinal. Maryland overpowered Illinois in the second half for a 75-65 second-round win. Ohio State beat Maryland twice in the regular season for the first time since 2015-16.
Purdue at Penn StateWomen's College BasketballThe Lady Lions (11-5, 2-3) link up with the Boilermakers (9-7, 2-3) for a Big Ten contest. The programs split a pair of 2022-23 meetings. Heralded guard Ashley Owusu made her Penn State debut with 18 points off the bench in a Jan. 14 win at Rutgers.
Vanderbilt at NC StateWomen's College BasketballThe No. 5 Wolfpack tip off against the Commodores in an ACC/SEC Challenge game involving 7-0 teams. NC State ran its winning streak against Vanderbilt to four with a victory at the 2022 Cancun Challenge. NC State beat then-No. 3 Colorado on Nov. 25.
LSU vs South CarolinaWomen's College BasketballThe No. 1 Gamecocks and No. 2 Tigers meet in the SEC Tournament final. South Carolina needed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer from Kamilla Cardoso to survive No. 5 Tennessee 74-73 and keep their unbeaten season alive. LSU got by No. 3 Ole Miss 75-67.
Tennessee at StanfordWomen's College BasketballThe Lady Volunteers visit the No. 2 Cardinal. Stanford has won five in a row since an overtime loss to No. 1 South Carolina on Nov. 20. Stanford has also won three straight over Tennessee after prevailing on this day in 2018, 2019 and 2021.

Washington State vs CaliforniaWomen's College BasketballNo. 9 Washington State faces No. 8 California in a rematch from last season's Pac-12 Tournament. The Cougars' miraculous title run began with a 61-47 win over the Golden Bears in the first round. The winner receives a date with top-seeded Stanford.
USC at StanfordWomen's College BasketballThe No. 15 Trojans (14-4, 4-4 Pac-12) visit the No. 3 Cardinal (19-2, 8-1). USC has dropped three of its last four games, with freshman star JuJu Watkins held to 8-of-27 shooting in the Jan. 28 loss against Washington. Stanford has won four in a row.
