Premier LeagueThe Premier League is the top tier of English professional football and is widely regarded as one of the most competitive football leagues in the world. The Premier League spans 38 fixtures, with each team playing each other twice (home and away). After the regular season, the bottom three teams are relegated to the lower tier of English football, the Championship, with the top two advancing to the UEFA Champions League. The teams ranked third to sixth play a playoff tournament called the UEFA Europa League. In addition, the team which finishes in sixth place qualifies for the qualifying rounds of the UEFA Europa League.
