Motorcycle RacingMotorcycle racing is a thrilling motorsport where riders negotiate challenging course layouts and fight to be the fastest to the finish line. Races take place on closed-course circuits, including road courses, speedways, and motocross tracks, with racers typically competing on customizable motorcycles. The world of motorcycle racing is segmented into several different classes and organizations, each with its own set of rules. The premier class, MotoGP, is designed for production-based motorcycles and is widely considered the pinnacle of two-wheeled motor racing. MotoGP is held throughout the world, with a championship season usually consisting of 18 rounds. The riders who compete in MotoGP are some of the best and most experienced racers in the world, and can expect to face competition from Honda, Ducati, Suzuki, Yamaha, and Aprilia who are all represented with factory-backed teams. The Moto2 and Moto3 classes are feeder series for MotoGP, with racers using identical bikes for each respective class. Both Moto2 and Moto3 have a championship season that runs alongside MotoGP and includes race stops in Europe, Asia and America. In addition to their respective classes, Moto2 and Moto3 also feature members of the MotoGP field competing in a one-race wild card event. Away from MotoGP, World SuperBike (WSBK) is the second biggest class of motorcycle racing and is renowned for its wild action and competitive spirit. With production-based bikes taking center stage in WSBK, teams battle for championship glory in a points-based championship season. With multiple category winners, there are several classifications for riders to compete in, such as World SuperSport 300, World SuperSport 600, and Electric Superbike. Throughout the history of motorcycle racing, there have been great champions who have pushed the boundaries of what is conventional. MotoGP has boasted superstars such as Valentino Rossi, Marc Marquez, and Jorge Lorenzo, while greats such as Carl Fogarty, Troy Bayliss, and Neil Hodgson have all won WSBK championships. At the highest level, motorcycle racing is a thrilling and dangerous sport. Racers have to be incredibly skilled to maneuver their machines around tight turns and over big jumps, all while running flat-out in close quarters with other riders. With the adrenaline and intensity of each race, motorcycle racing is widely held as one of the most exciting motorsports in the world.
