Voleibol ArgentinoVoleibol Argentino is one of the premier leagues for volleyball in South America. It is comprised of teams from Argentina and is organized by the Federación Argentina de Voleibol. The league consists of two divisions, the Liga A1, and the Liga A2. The top teams from the Liga A2 gain promotion to the Liga A1 for the following season, while the bottom teams from the Liga A1 are relegated. The Liga A1 consists of 12 teams, while the Liga A2 consists of 14 teams. Popular teams in the Liga A1 include UPCN Vóley San Juan, Club Ciudad de Bolívar, Obras Sanitarias, and Club Olimpia. Liga A1 teams are divided into two groups of 6, based on the previous season's results. Prominent players in Voleibol Argentino include Facundo Imhoff, Bruno Lima, Mariano Giustiniano, Agustín Ramonda, and Federico Pereyra. The season runs from February to December and is composed of two stages. The first stage is a double round-robin in which each team plays the other teams once at home, and once away. At the end of the first stage, the top four teams from each group of 6 proceed to the Super 4. During the Super 4, the teams play round-robin, and the winner earns the Champion of the Regular Season title. The remaining 8 teams from both groups then compete in a 1-round playoff bracket with a best-of-three format in order to determine the champion. The Volleyball Association of Argentina, known as the FeVA, has been in charge of organizing and promoting Volleyball in Argentina since its founding in 1948. Since then, it has seen tremendous growth and development, as well as success in international competitions. Though the Liga A1 is considered the top division of Volleyball in Argentina, it also oversees and sanctions numerous other leagues, tournaments, and events throughout the country. This includes the Copa Argentina -a cup tournament open to all registered FeVA teams- the Torneo Metropolitano, and even U17 and U19 youth leagues.
