Somewhere in the audience, wide-eyed usher and aspiring singer Johnny (Jimmy Clanton) listens attentively. Determined to become Freed's latest discovery, Johnny struggles to raise the money he'll need to record a demo. Along the way, he falls for fellow singer and orphan Julie Arnold (Sandy Stewart).
