Ray Evernham has at least one thing in common with millions of other Americans -- he loves the rich, diverse history of U.S. automobiles. In "AmeriCarna," the NASCAR championship-winning crew chief and team owner searches barns, garages, junkyards and basements across the country, all in the pursuit of historic racing cars, classic cars, folklore and automotive artifacts. Along the way, Evernham hears plenty of stories from other enthusiasts who share the impact that iconic cars have had on their lives, among them director Ron Howard, surfing icon Laird Hamilton, Beach Boys legend Mike Love, country music star Brad Paisley, and drag racing king Don "the Snake" Prudhomme.

Ray restores the famous Brawner Hawk Indy car that Mario Andretti drove to win Rookie of the Year honors in 1965; the duo takes the vehicle to the Brickyard for the 100th running of the Indianapolis 500.
