Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles a diverse team of "planeteers," who are able to combine their powers to summon an elemental warrior that takes on the appearance of superhero Captain Planet. He works with the planeteers to defend Earth from pollution caused by criminals and villains. As the show's theme song says, Captain Planet is "gonna take pollution down to zero" by defeating the villains, who include the likes of Hoggish Greedly, Dr. Blight and Looten Plunder. The animated series was co-created by media mogul Ted Turner, a noted environmentalist.

The Planeteers travel to Thailand to stop Greedly and Rigger's mining activity.
S1, EP4 "Skumm Lord"
Verminous Skumm poisons the water supplies in South America; the Planeteers become infected by Skumm's disease and turn into rat hybrids.

The eco-villains capture Captain Planet and demand a ransom payment in the form of nuclear waste; the Planeteers plot a daring rescue mission.
S5, EP3 "The Ghost of Porkaloin Past"
Hoggish Greedly inherits his grandfather's estate and selfishly spends his new fortune against the terms of the will, which requires the money be used for environmentally-friendly projects; the Planeteers come up with a plan to change Greedly's ways.
S6, EP13 "101 Mutations"
After a puppy adopted by Wheeler's young cousin dies, the Planeteers discover a puppy mill run by Dr. Blight that sells sick dogs.
S6, EP12 "Greed Is the Word"
The Planeteers need Captain Planet's help to stop speeding boaters and Hoggish Greedly from driving endangered manatees out of their habitat.
