Captain Planet and the Planeteers
Gaia, the spirit of the planet, assembles a diverse team of "planeteers," who are able to combine their powers to summon an elemental warrior that takes on the appearance of superhero Captain Planet. He works with the planeteers to defend Earth from pollution caused by criminals and villains. As the show's theme song says, Captain Planet is "gonna take pollution down to zero" by defeating the villains, who include the likes of Hoggish Greedly, Dr. Blight and Looten Plunder. The animated series was co-created by media mogul Ted Turner, a noted environmentalist.

The eco-villains hack the government computers and grant permits to turn parks into landfills.
S1, EP17 "Don't Drink the Water"
Looten Plunder, Dr. Blight, Verminous Skumm and Hoggish Greedly plot to pollute the city's water supply to peddle bottled water at egregious prices to the parched citizens.
S1, EP18 "Kwame's Crisis"
A town becomes buried in trash, with its residents apathetic to their situation; a frustrated Kwame leaves the Planeteers.

Duke Nukem destroys the ozone layer over Antarctica to feed on the dangerous UV rays.
S1, EP15 "The Smog Hog Invasion"
Hoggish Greedly creates a smog-spewing car, which pollutes the city; Greedly's son, Junior, develops a crush on Linka, but soon falls ill to the effects of the smog.
S1, EP14 "Meltdown Syndrome"
A radiation leak catches Duke Nukem's attention and he triggers a meltdown; Captain Planet and company have to cool the reactor down before it contaminates the world with radiation.
S1, EP13 "Plunder Dam"
Looten Plunder dams up a river and parches villages below the dam.
