Lorna Corbett, a 40-something wife who relishes her job as a way to escape from an oppressive home, is jealous of younger colleagues' expanding horizons and happiness. Privileged Gladys Witham, 22, is a wild child drawn to the most dangerous job at the factory, which helps her feel alive and connect with the others.
