The Carol Burnett Show

Comedian and stage actress Carol Burnett, who first gained popularity during her stint on "The Gary Moore Show," hosted this one-hour variety series. Her talented supporting players included Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence (who got the job based on her resemblance to Burnett) and Lyle Waggoner. Skits often featured guest stars, such as Mama Cass of the Mamas and the Papas or singer Steve Lawrence. One sketch, "The Family" (which featured Lawrence as the persnickety Mama and Burnett as her hotheaded daughter) was later spun-off into it's own sitcom.

S1, EP13 "Mickey Rooney, John Davidson"

Carol's guests are Mickey Rooney and John Davidson; Davidson sings "Somewhere"; Rooney takes part in a wild, wild Western; Carol must choose between the two (and Lyle) on The Rat Race.

S2, EP12 "Eileen Farrell, Marilyn Horne"

A pair of grand opera voices, in the form of Eileen Farrell and Marilyn Horne, join Carol tonight in an episode that features Harvey leading a Fireside Chat with the First Family.

S9, EP3 "Cher"

Tonight's guest star is Cher; sketches include Harvey and Tim as dueling pianists, spoofs of commercials, and a love triangle between Harvey, Cher, and Carol as the mousy other woman.

S9, EP4 "Shirley MacLaine"

Guest Shirley MacLaine joins Carol in sharing some of their fan mail; Tim plays a palace guard who refuses to allow the Queen through the gates unless he gets a popsicle.

S11, EP24 "The Carol Burnett Show"

Highlights of series finale include: clips from prior shows; a Q&A session with the cast; Mr. Tudball is moving his office but doesn't tell Mrs. Wiggins; Eunice and Mama see a psychiatrist; the Charwoman closes up shop for the last time.
