Comedian and stage actress Carol Burnett, who first gained popularity during her stint on "The Gary Moore Show," hosted this one-hour variety series. Her talented supporting players included Harvey Korman, Tim Conway, Vicki Lawrence (who got the job based on her resemblance to Burnett) and Lyle Waggoner. Skits often featured guest stars, such as Mama Cass of the Mamas and the Papas or singer Steve Lawrence. One sketch, "The Family" (which featured Lawrence as the persnickety Mama and Burnett as her hotheaded daughter) was later spun-off into it's own sitcom.

Bernadette Peters and Tim Conway guest star in a head-spinning installment of "As The Stomach Turns" spoofing "The Exorcist" in the process; Tim and Harvey play Japanese sailors in a tiny sub.

Carol's guests are Frank Gorshin and Lana Turner; Gorshin does his famous impressions, then joins up with Turner in a sketch about Bluebeard, who has just taken his unlucky 13th bride, Carol.

Guest star Richard Chamberlain gives it his all in "Gone With The Breeze"; fellow guest Gloria Loring takes center stage for an impressive musical performance.

Eunice and Mickey try to coax Mama out of her house and into a retirement home in "The Family"; a smooth operator attempts to pick up a sexpot in a bar; guest Rock Hudson.
