The citizens of Macross City revolt after the Earth government prohibits them from leaving the SDF-1; Lynn Kyle, Minmei's cousin, stirs up trouble on the ship and causes Lisa grief over her dead fiancé; Rick suffers injury during a Zentraedi attack.
S1, EP18 "Farewell, Big Brother"
Lisa visits Rick while he recuperates in the hospital and Roy talks Minmei into visiting him as well; a brash Zentraedi pilot named Miriya learns of a human fighter pilot whose skill matches her own and leads an assault to find him.
S1, EP19 "Bursting Point"
Capt. Gloval receives an offer from Ontario Quadrant to take in all civilians of Macross City who wish to disembark, defying the Earth government's disavowal of their existence; an attack forces the SDF-1 to activate its new, untested defense system.
