Before hosting Discovery's "Dirty Jobs," Mike Rowe had a program in San Francisco about folks on a mission -- mad scientists, eccentric collectors, devoted do-gooders -- called "Somebody's Gotta Do It." Now, CNN gives Rowe free rein to scour the country for people who, he says, "do what they do because of a weird mix of love, compulsion, obsession, dedication -- whatever it is. Those people have always interested me." The former series focused on the task, but this version spotlights the personality. Or, as he puts it: "More mission, less poop."
S2, EP6 "Seabees"
Mike works with the Navy Seabees to build a bridge, tries his hand at medieval sword fighting, and emerges himself in Edgar Allan Poe history.
S3 "Flyboarding / Iowa Inventors"
Mike Rowe gets his feet wet on a fly board, an invention that allows people to use the water jet from a jet ski to fly above the surface of the water.
S3, EP8 "Golden Knights"
Mike jumps out of a plane with an elite parachute team, explores recycled trash-turned-art in Oregon, and returns to an inner city, war-torn Baltimore.
"727 Guy; Treehouse"
Mike visits and performs maintenance on the Out 'n' About Treehouse Treesort, a resort consisting entirely of rooms in trees; Mike meets a man who turned a decommissioned 727 airliner into his home.
