The prospectors face perilous conditions that include extreme climates and weather, which can be even more dangerous in Colorado due to its elevation. That results in less oxygen and more-extreme weather than usual. The series follows Colorado miners -- including a former model -- as they search for precious gems in an attempt to find their fortune 14,000 feet above sea level.
